Fee-Free Weekend on BLM Land

Posted By on Fri, Jan 13, 2012 at 3:33 PM

Need to get outside over the holiday weekend? The Bureau of Land Management just made it a little more affordable.

All day-use fees at BLM-managed sites will be waived during the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday weekend (Saturday, Jan. 14-Monday, Jan. 16). It's part of a program across the agencies of the Department of the Interior designed to encourage more people to take advantage of public lands.

Not in the mood to freeze your rear off this weekend? There are a few more fee-free days/weekends on the schedule for 2012: Get Outdoors Day on Saturday, June 9; National Public Lands Day on Saturday, Sept. 29; and Veterans' Day weekend on Saturday, Nov. 10-Monday, Nov. 12.

Remember that all camping and cabin rental fees are still in effect. Get more info about which areas in Idaho are participating in the fee-free weekend here.
