Need Something To Do Sunday?

Posted By on Sun, Jan 15, 2012 at 6:00 AM

Toward the end of the 19th century, a guy calling himself Lewis Carroll wrote a lil' story about a girl named Alice, who has a super-strange adventure in a totally whacked-out, talking-cat, evil-queen land.

Modern-day audiences have been subjected to Carroll's imagination through Disney's animated classic, Tim Burton's fantastical film, and scandalous Alice Halloween costumes.

Today, you can experience the iconic tale in a new way. Idaho Dance Theatre and Shangri-La Tea Room are putting on a tea-licious fundraiser, A Mad Hatter's Tea Party, from 2-4 p.m. at Shangri-La. Tickets are $25, and the event is limited to 50 seats, so get on it now if you want to join in.

IDT will offer a sneak preview of its Winter Performance, which opens Friday, Jan. 27, and runs through Sunday, Jan. 29, at the Boise State Special Events Center. Alice, the Mad Hatter and the Red and White Queens will all be in attendance for tea, and costumes are encouraged. Door prizes and awards for costumes will be given out and a light lunch will be provided. So brush up on your Alice in Wonderland by cruising through your copy of the Carroll novel or renting a film, and then head out to this fantasy-filled fundraiser.
