Need Something To Do Friday?

Posted By on Fri, Mar 2, 2012 at 6:00 AM

Some people are so wickedly cool that you can't help but want to meet them, if for no other reason than to breathe deep with the hope that awesomeness is airborne. Sure, everyone's interpretation of who would be on this list is different, but there's bound to be room for people with sweet jobs: sword swallowers, chewing-gum developers and, perhaps, glass blowers.

Tonight, you can meet the internationally renowned glass artist Richard La Londe at Fusions Glass Studio in Eagle from 5-9 p.m. during his artist reception. At 7:30 p.m., La Londe will give a presentation titled, "How I Got Here: Ancient History, Window Glass Fusers and Bullseye Fusible Glass," so you can learn a little sumpin' sumpin' about the art of maneuvering glass.

It's also First Friday in Eagle and at the studio, so if you'd like to try your hand at glass blowing, you can craft a glass sun-catcher for $5, or larger fused-glass project for $15-$35.

Serious glass artists can sign up for La Londe's workshop, which will take place Saturday, March 3-Tuesday, March 6, from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. and costs $475. Visit Fusions' website for more info.
