Need Something To Do Saturday?

Posted By on Sat, Mar 3, 2012 at 6:00 AM

Don't have any plans yet for your Saturday? Feeling a little sad? Buck up, because today you can go to an event that rocks, but has absolutely nothing to do with music.

The 58th Annual Owyhee Gem and Mineral Society Show kicks off today from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. at the O'Connor Field House at 2200 Blaine in Caldwell. And while you may balk at the idea of driving to Caldwell to look at rocks, take note that these aren't the boring pebbles you find on your driveway.

Aside from a slew of gems and rocks, the show will include a sand dig, demonstrations, dealers, a black-light display, grab bags, door prizes on the hour, a silent auction and something called The Wheel of Gems—which sounds pretty rad by itself.

Admission to the show will run you $3, and is FREE for children ages 11 and younger. Can't make it today? This gem of an event continues Sunday from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Visit the society's website for more info.
