Need Something To Do Thursday?

Posted By on Thu, May 24, 2012 at 6:00 AM

Feel like watching world-class racers expel some energy? Good, because today is the kickoff for the Exergy Tour, a big bike race featuring ladies with lots of pedal power from across the globe. Racing events will be held beginning today and continuing through Monday, May 28.

You can catch the first race in the Exergy Tour tonight in downtown Boise. Enjoy live music, activities and get your Passport to the Exergy Tour stamped at the expo, which begins at 5:30 p.m. at the race's starting point in Julia Davis Park. At 6:30 p.m., racers will speed off on their two-wheeled steeds for a 2-mile ride through the city. Some primo spots to catch the action are at the park and the Boise Train Depot.

The tour continues Friday, May 25, at the Nampa Recreation Center. That race begins at 11 a.m. Racers will head to Kuna on Saturday, May 26, and Crouch on Sunday, May 27. The Overall Champion trophy will be awarded Monday, May 28, after the final race takes place, followed by a big ol' bike party in Hyde Park.

Expos will be held at the starting point of each race, so there's plenty of family friendly fun to be had. Check out the Exergy Tour's website for a full calendar, or pick up an official spectator guide, complete with tips on where to watch and distance/climb details presented by Boise Weekly, which will be available at the BW tent at the expo.
