Need Something To Do Sunday?

Posted By on Sun, Jun 17, 2012 at 6:00 AM

Saddle up, partner. Today is the perfect time to hit the dusty trail—er, paved highway—and head a couple of hours out of town. The third-annual Cowboy Trade Days kicked off Saturday in a lil' ol' town called Roseberry, right near McCall.

But the peddling of bits, spurs, saddles, hats, Old West photos and everything else country-western continues today from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. at the Barn at Roseberry. So get ready to buy, sell and trade your wares while having a rootin' tootin' good time. (And spouting every cliched Western phrase possible.)

What's that? You've never heard of Roseberry? Well, here's the lowdown on the cowboy ho-down (and the town itself): At the turn of the 20th century, Roseberry was a happening spot with a hotel and restaurant. But then railroad lines were laid two miles from the town and Donnelly was created, rendering Roseberry a sort of ghost town.

Today, it exists as a string of restored historical buildings and an old-school general store and barn, where various socials and an annual concert series are held. You can learn more about the town here.
