Need Something To Do Monday?

Is your Monday feeling kind of dull or humdrum? One way to snap out of it is to get rip-roaring drunk. Another—and an option that you probably won't lament tomorrow—is to go see a show that's about as far from boring as it gets.

The Pretty Things Peep Show takes place today at 7 p.m. at Neurolux. The show is a mash-up of sideshow acts and burlesque, and features an array of entertainment to delight and startle, including sword-swallowing, fire-eating, straight jacket escape, whip cracking and ... comedy. In addition to a lot of fancy costumes and flirtatious burlesque performances.

Pretty Things also includes a Chinese Execution Blade Box in its shows, in which a contortionist bends around a series of knives in a box, and audience members come view her Gumby-like skills on the stage.

Another odd-yet-fascinating inclusion in the show's repertoire is human blockhead, which has nothing to do with Charlie Brown. It involves nails and other items being inserted into the nasal cavity in cringe-worthy ways.

Tickets to the show are $10 at the Record Exchange or via ticketweb.com, or $12 at the door.
