Boise Band Jumping Sharks to Join New Band

Boise band Jumping Sharks has been doing all right for itself. The group released its debut album and performed a national tour to and from SXSW this year, along with RevoltRevolt.

But that will all get tossed aside for a spell so that the band can back up Slow Bunny, a Mr. Bungle-esque weird-rock band out of Seattle that was formed by mastermind Chase Evans and recorded with help from session musicians. But as is the case with session musicians, the band wasn't able to tour.

And that's where Jumping Sharks comes in. The Boise band played with Slow Bunny in Seattle and made enough of an impression that it was asked to be the group's touring band for a series of Northwest dates this fall, and an East Coast tour in summer 2013.

"My feeling is, they think we're the right kind of crazy for it," said Reggie Townley, bassist for Jumping Sharks.

But Jumping Sharks fans have nothing to fear. The band has no plans of swapping animals completely and is already hard at work on a second album.

"Jumping Sharks won't be on hold at all, we will go on tour with them once a year, indefinitely," said Townley. "For now, plans are to have it as a double headliner, alternating which band goes first depending on the market, and the feel of the night."

Boise can get a taste of this new shark/bunny monstrosity at Visual Arts Collective on Saturday, July 14.
