Need Something To Do Saturday?

Posted By on Sat, Aug 4, 2012 at 6:00 AM

Treasure Valley towns may nearly overlap, but each seems dead-set on celebrating its individuality. Eagle has its fun days, Star has its hometown celebration, and this weekend, you can discover what it's like to party in Kuna (beyond that one weekend you ended up dancing on the bar at Cowgirls).

Kuna Days kicked off Aug. 3, but today is even more full of fun events for the entire family. If you're into waking up early on a Saturday, head to the pancake breakfast from 7-9:30 a.m. before you cruise all the vendor booths in Col. Bernard Fisher Veterans Memorial Park (aka Bernie Fisher Park). Live music and entertainment get going in the park beginning at 11 a.m.

Send the kiddies to enjoy the Kids Carnival from noon-5 p.m., then check out the duck race, which begins at Swan Falls at 1 p.m.

The Kuna Rural Fire District Olde Tyme BBQ and Live Auction kicks off at 4 p.m. at Kuna Fire Station No. 1, but don't fill up on too much barbecue. Back at the park, El Gallo Giro will present a taco-eating contest at 5 p.m., and those with truly bottomless stomachs can then get their fill of dessert with the Paul's Market pie-eating contest at 5:30 p.m.

The celebration ends with a big ol' street dance beginning at 9 p.m., featuring the band iRock, which pretty much plays everything from '80s to country to whatever your heart desires.
