Brewforia Eagle Officially Opens Today

Posted By on Mon, Aug 13, 2012 at 3:40 PM

Last week, chef Ryan Hembree, formerly of Life’s Kitchen, walked around Brewforia Eagle’s open floorplan with a plate of chicken wings. Owner Rick Boyd surveyed the revamped space and said the last detail would be the City of Eagle accepting his application to serve beer.

Brewforia received its State of Idaho license in June, but construction hang-ups delayed the receipt of its Ada County beer license for three weeks. Boyd expressed frustration with the delays.

“You’re on a budget and you only have cash on hand to work with. It can be a bit of a strain,” he said.

But today around 4 p.m., with paperwork in order, the spot will officially open its doors for dinner at 78 Eagle River St., Suite 165, in Eagle.

At 4,550 square feet, including a 1,500-square-foot kitchen, Brewforia Eagle has indoor seating for 129 and outdoor seating for 100 more. Ten taps will serve between 60 and 80 rotating beers a week. By comparison, Brewforia’s Meridian location has indoor seating for 44 and an additional 28 outside, and serves about 40 beers on tap per week.

With its larger kitchen, Boyd said food will be more of a focus and menu items will be paired with beers by Chef Hembree.

“With beer, you can create a unique range of flavors that we think will go well with our menu,” Boyd said.

Some of the new menu items will include jerked chicken with banana hot sauce, sandwiches like the softshell crab po boy and an expanded range of chicken wings.

Brewforia Eagle occupies the former Baan Thai and Mai Thai Eagle location. Boyd took over the space May 1, and began a $150,000 remodel the next day, tearing out the interior walls and fountain, installing new floors and giving the kitchen “a thorough cleaning.”

Brewforia Eagle will be open Monday through Saturday, from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., and Sunday from noon to 10 p.m.

Boyd added that this is only the beginning of his vision for the company.

“We’re only going to get bigger from here,” Boyd said.
