Boise State is full of art, with exhibits in the Student Union Building, the Visual Arts Center galleries, the Special Events Center and the Yanke Family Research Park. And today, you can catch an opening reception of one of said exhibitions.

Local artist Lisa Flowers Ross will present Color Fields, a collection of work inspired by aerial photos of tulip fields in bloom. But don't expect the kind of floral oil paintings that your artsy aunt likes to do in her spare time. Flowers Ross' exhibition makes use of the inspiration in a more abstract way, using geometric shapes. The pieces for this show also highlight her stitching skills, and were created with hand-dyed fabrics.

You can view more of Flowers Ross' work at her website, and then check out the opening reception from 4:30-6:30 p.m. in the Boise State Special Events Center.

Can't check it out today? The exhibition will be up through Sunday, Jan. 13.
