Punk Icons The Vibrators to Play The Shredder Monday

Classic rock is for old people and hip-hop for young 'uns. Music styles come and go, frequently leaving those separated by the age gap scratching their heads and wondering what's wrong with everyone else.

Except for punk. Instead of age-based tribalism and rolled-eye diplomacy, old punks still play well with the young punks, achieving a sort of elder statesman status. Young bands may wear back patches speaking to the "spirit of '77," but old bands lived it.

Tonight Monday, Sept. 17, Boise youngsters and old coots can unite at The Shredder for British punk icons The Vibrators.

The band formed in 1976 and played with all the greats in London—everyone from Iggy Pop to Roxy Music and The Sex Pistols—and wrote the song "Stiff Little Fingers," which the band Stiff Little Fingers took its name from. Take note, whippersnappers: That's how scene cred is done.

The Vibrators will play tonight at The Shredder with Japanese girl-group The Akabane Vultures Vulgars on Strong Bypass, Micheal Dean Damron, Chris Mcfarland and locals Piranhas. The show starts at 8 p.m. and costs $10.
