Need Something To Do Saturday?

Once the leaves start to get all colorful and a chill hits the air, a number of foods and events with the word "harvest" pop up. Today, you can attend a type of harvest that doesn't include pumpkins or squash.

The ZeroLandfill Harvest will take place at Office Pavilion, 11613 W. Executive Drive, from 8 a.m.-6 p.m. Just what the heck are you harvesting? Art stuff.

ZeroLandfill is an up-cycling program that holds events across the nation. Members of the architectural and interior design communities partner with the program to keep the things they don't need away from the dump. Things like brick, tile and stone samples, wallcovering and paper sample books, flooring samples and more end up in the hands of local artists instead of rotting underneath last week's garbage.

Volunteers worked Oct. 3-4 in the "pollination and cultivation" phase of the event, sorting and weighing unwanted textiles. Today, for a small donation to the Re:Use Market, artsy types can take home unique pieces and repurpose them.
