Between a string of new shows and a pretty solid shout-out on indiebandsblog.com, Boise band Storie Grubb and the Holy Wars has been doing all right for itself.

But this week, it gave the Net a chance to look back as well as forward, by dropping an archival album from the fictional frontman, Storie Grubb, back when he was rocking Ashland, Ore., instead of Boise, and was backed by The Invincible Allegory instead of The Holy Wars.

The self-titled album features a dozen tracks recorded in various bedrooms between 2004 and 2006, and was released direct to Web as a $7 download available via Bandcamp. All of the tracks are loose and raw, with a louder, darker tone and production style than the material performed with The Holy Wars. It's easy to imagine similar sounding low-fi recordings coming from the early bedroom tapes of the Pixies.

The album is available for download here, or for streaming below.
