A second iteration of Treefort Music Fest is scheduled to go down Thursday, March 21-Sunday, March 24, and while headliners Animal Collective tops a long list scheduled to play, an up-and-coming Baltimore artist uses a trick that may give other performers a run for their money.

Dan Deacon uses his audience to crowdsource a light show created with their cellphones. Crowds download his official app—available on the iTunes and Google Play app—which turns each device into a flickering, colorful beacon in the dark venue.

The result is a 21st century take on lifting one's lighter in the air. Check a video below, where Deacon performs "True Thrush" from his album America.
