A Packed Revolution Concert House Goes Wild For Tiesto

Posted By on Sat, Mar 9, 2013 at 10:22 AM

A crowd of 2,200 packed the Revolution Concert House March 8 for Electronic Dance Music DJ Tiesto's College Invasion Tour.

“Thank you Boise,” said DJ Tiesto, “You guys are wild.”

The crowd was unlike any dance crowd this year. EDM regulars lined the outside of the novice mob. Unicorns, pandas and tutus raged around meatheads and drunks. From the front of the pit to the patio to the front door, everyone was bouncing to Tiesto's upbeat, energetic music.

Local DJ duo Rubicon 7 fired up the crowd with a blend of progressive, trance and electro. Debuting the track “Triton,” Rubicon 7 set the stage for the best EDM experience in Boise this year.

Sticking to the Dutch House genre, DJs Alvaro, Tommy Trash, Quintino and Tiesto threw down amazing sets. Tiesto brought the College Invasion Tour to Boise on recommendations from Steve Aoki and Bassnectar, who both performed at Revolution recently.

Alvaro, Quintino and Tommy Trash flaunted their names on a LED screen. Alvaro played a remix of Zedd’s “Spectrum” and Quintino played a remix of Red Hot Chili Peppers' “Otherside."

Tiesto’s set consisted of remixes of Zedd’s “Clarity,” Calvin Harris’ “Sweet Loving” and the original track “Maximal Crazy." The crowd was flooded with smoke and confetti, and the spectacular laser show created a pseudo ceiling of red, yellow, green, blue and purple.

“You were the shit tonight, Boise,” Quintino said.

After the show, Alvaro and Quintino hosted an afterparty with special guest Tiesto at the Powerhouse Event Center. The three DJs were all smiles as they experimented with Boise’s taste until 4 a.m. The crowd of about 200 danced hard to a variety of EDM tracks, ranging from house to dubstep, including a remix of Nirvana’s “Smells Like Teen Spirit."

Quintino teased the late night dancers by playing only a minute of a track that inspired Boiseans to dance the hardest they had all night. Dancers refused to leave the venue for 30 minutes in hopes of an encore that never happened.
