Boise's climbing community managed to get both tighter and more expansive at once.

Boise-based climbing gear company Asana recently purchased The Front climbing gym at 3235 W. Chinden Blvd. in Garden City, renaming the facility the Asana Climbing Gym.

Manger Jon Albright and Russell Long are working on small revaps to the bouldering gym, but Albright said they're taking things slowly. The day-rate for visiting the gym has already been lowered from $14 to $12, and plans call for putting a greater focus on retail, offering—no big surprise—Asana products.

"This will be an Asana outlet," Albright said of the gym, which he hopes will be a key part of Boise's climbing community.

Asana has been involved in the gym since it opened several years ago, and Albright called taking it over a natural evolution for both the gym and the company.

Hours will remain the same for the time being, and the gym will maintain its bouldering wall, as well as the workout area, as the new owners mull any future changes.
