Treefort Saturday Re-Cap: Bassfort Brings EDM Lineup to China Blue

Posted By on Sun, Mar 24, 2013 at 6:00 PM

What started as a slow and lonely night for Salt Lake DJ Lynden Williams, turned into a packed dance floor courtesy of Boise-based EDM duo Rubicon 7.

“Hello Treefort,” said Elizabeth Thompson, who, with Brandon Scott, is Rubicon 7. “We love you Boise!”

It was like watching a movie soundtrack come to life in the electro lounge at China Blue. The multi-colored dance floor was slowly overcome by an eager, dancing mob that loved whatever the DJs threw at them. More than a few local DJs and promoters were there to show support for the local talent.

Boise's own DJ Deeveaux kicked off the rest of the local Bassfort showcase at 10:40 p.m., with an amazing vocal mix intro that brought people off the couches and onto the floor. Deeveaux played big, fat house beats with pulsating bass lines, but danced across the genres of Techno, Tech House, Progressive and Electro. The crowd also got to hear Deevaux debut his first solo single, "Interceptor," but if you missed it, the set was streamed live on mixify.com.

Sticking to their own genre of EDM, Rubicon 7 blew the dance floor away with a unique set. Determined to provide fans with new music, Rubicon played some original tracks, such as “Triton” and “Sync This,” but shocked the crowd with a special remix of NIN's “The Hand That Feeds."

The night ended in the electro lounge with Boise EDM veteran Reflektion, whose Bassfort appearance was something to remember. He moved fans with an eclectic mix of hip-hop beats, sensual grooves and popular dance vibes.
