Big plans are afoot in the City of Trees. The city wants to make several one-way streets into two-way streets with bike lanes, roundabouts have been proposed downtown and the Boise Hole is slowly transforming into a triumphant Boise Tower.

Here to put these and other changes into perspective is Jeff Speck, author of Walkable City: How Downtown Can Save America, One Step at a Time.

Speck is in town at the behest of the City of Boise and the Capital City Development Corporation. The architectural planner, city consultant and author is delivering a free lecture today at 4 p.m. at the Egyptian Theatre, during which he'll discuss his experiences and observations about downtowns, and give a little insight into what could be in store for Boise.
