Need Something To Do Friday?

Have you ever heard of the bends? When deep sea divers return to the surface too quickly, nitrogen bubbles form in their bloodstream, causing the divers unbearable suffering and sometimes death. Each year, July 5 is a microcosm of that phenomenon: After a night of hard Independence Day partying, the still air and dissipating clouds of firework smoke can result in post-festivity decompression marked by boredom, restlessness and a hangover.

Don't let this happen to you.

To help with the Independence Day bends, the Boise Co-op is throwing its First Friday party. A barbecue ribs tasting—courtesy of Weiser River Beef—runs from 11 a.m.-4 p.m., followed by Three Twins Ice Cream tasting, wine tasting featuring Sawtooth Winery starting at 4:30 p.m. and a long set by musician Billy Braun at 4:30 p.m. It's all free and runs until 10 p.m. so you can adjust to the absence of fireworks and Saturnalia in comfort.
