Gone are the days when musicians needed a fast-talking, tweed jacket-wearing manager to land them a recording contract. Anyone with a computer and a microphone can capture their art and share it with the world in a matter of minutes. However, there are tricks and techniques that will help anyone attempting to do this, and the Boise Rock School has your number.

In a joint partnership with Discovery Center of Idaho, Boise Rock School presents Science of Recording, a special class aimed at educating eager recording artists on the history of recorded sound and techniques they can use to record their own music. As Bill and Ted would say, excellent.

1 p.m. $25-$30. Discovery Center of Idaho, 131 Myrtle St., Boise, boiserockschool.com.
