Magic Sword's self-titled first album is the stuff of dreams—or unreleased sci-fi and fantasy movies from the 1980s—and has earned the band a cult following across the northwest for its soaring electronic sound. And like a lost or forgotten cinematic treasure, Magic Sword vanished off record store shelves and ultimately, out of production. Until now.

Tuesday, Jan. 13, Magic Sword will be re-released on the iTunes store or on the band's genero.us page in conjunction with a standalone comic, Magic Sword: Volume 1, by Shay Plummer. While the band's publicist indicated that a physical copy of the album will also soon be available for purchase, no date for that release has been given.

In the meantime, the band's songs have appeared in GoPro's The Streets of Japan video, as well as in the sequel to the video game Hotline Miami, which got a write-up in The Guardian.
