Scheduled to play Treefort's Main Stage March 29, Brooklyn, New York-based musician Emily Wells stopped by Hackfort on March 27 to give a talk about the relationship between music and technology.

Wells began with a quote from John Cage, in which he called making music "purposeless play" meant "simply to wake [us] up to the very life we're living." Wells went on to discuss influences on her music, which ranged from composer Philip Glass to the Wu-Tang Clan. To show how her musical and technological capabilities have evolved, she played earlier and later versions of one of her songs.

"And keep in mind I usually have a drum kit behind me," she said before playing the later version. "So, Sunday."
