While Brooklyn dance-pop band Rubblebucket performed to a packed El Korah Shrine on March 29, Olympia, Wash.-based rock group Survival Knife played the night's final set at Crazy Horse. Justin Trosper and Brandt Sandeno's chugging, snarling guitars called to mind heavy metal and although the idiosyncratic song structures gave the music a disorienting, abstract feel, it was counterbalanced by the thunderous force of Meg Cunningham's bass and Kris Cunningham's drums.

One of the best things about Treefort is that there's room for all types of music. As full as El Korah Shrine was, Survival Knife had its share of appreciators as well: More than 100 people were at Crazy Horse to see them.
