Idaho City has struggled with several wild- and human-caused fires in the last few years, but its citizens are pulling through strong—and so is their chilli. The mountain city will celebrate 2018 with the 32nd Annual Idaho City Chili Cook Off, where locals and out-of-towners bring their best blends to bear. From beefy to vegetable-based, spicy to mild, there will be chili for everyone and plenty of beer to wash it down. Between samples visitors can check out vendor booths, a silent auction and a raffle hawking local swag. Entry, including tasting, is $5, and ladeling runs from 11:30 a.m. until the chili is gone. Earlybirds can snag tickets online through the Idaho City Chamber of Commerce, which is offering a package deal including a commemorative chili bowl and six raffle tickets for $10. Come out and get your chili on.
