When you drive up to this white and gray townhouse, you'll wonder if it's a duplex because it shares a common wall with its adjoining neighbor. I was assured by the real estate agent that it is a townhouse, and the adjoining property is currently not for sale. The shared front yard is a big concrete driveway with two planters set into it. A pair of topiary shrubs near the top of the driveway helps to camouflage the dual entrances. As you approach the arched entryway, you'll see a paneled front door flanked by a pair of half sidelights. The door and sidelights contain arched, leaded glass inserts that hint at the many arched windows used throughout the interior.

Entering the home, you step into an angled hallway that is painted a cheerful yellow. You'll pass an entry hall closet, a mini master suite with its own full bathroom, and a separate guest bathroom before stepping into the newly remodeled kitchen and open great room. The updated kitchen features stainless-steel appliances, beige travertine flooring and backsplash, a black granite breakfast bar and counters, and dark brown wood cabinets. The medium-size kitchen seems efficient. Nice as it is, you probably won't really notice the kitchen because you'll be too distracted by the sweeping vista of the entire Boise Front that is visible through the wall of arched windows in the great room. Boy, what a view.

Situated just off the great room, the master suite features the same spectacular view. It has a main bedroom area with arched windows that face the mountains, and a double closet; a separate dressing area with a vanity and walk-in closet; and a spacious bathing area with a Jacuzzi tub, full shower and a second vanity. The bathing area is lit by a skylight, giving the space an open, airy feeling. The master suite is twice as large as the mini master you passed on your way into the home.

Back down the entry hall toward the main entrance, open the lockable, childproof door to go downstairs for a dip in the heated indoor pool. The pool room has teal-colored indoor-outdoor carpeting (to handle wet feet). In addition to the pool, the spacious room features a full kitchen and a bank of six arch-topped sliding glass doors that look toward the mountains. It's easy to imagine opening all of the sliders in the summertime to make the space feel breezy and connected to the outdoors. The doors open to a small back yard that is just large enough for an outdoor dining table and half a dozen chairs, and is landscaped with low-maintenance shrubbery. Back inside the pool room there are two more rooms. To the right of the kitchen is a three-quarter bath with a wall of floor-to-ceiling locker-style cabinets and a shower. To the left is the third bedroom.

Pros: The house has abundant storage space, a central vacuum, water softener and an intercom system. A renter could live on the bottom floor and have his own bedroom, kitchen and bathroom. One entire wall in the two-car garage is lined with floor-to-ceiling cabinets. The cost per square foot is under $96—a bargain even in today's soft market.

Cons: Duette-style shades on the upstairs windows conceal less-than-scenic views of the connector by the mall and the parking lot behind an office furniture warehouse. If the full views bother you, your shades may never be fully open. On the lower level, this could be remedied with the right landscaping plan.
