      Each year, the city celebrates its wintry pride with 10 days of events. Some of the biggest draws are the elaborate ice sculptures dotting the city. Last year, McCall Mountain Accents took home the grand prize for its Jurassic Park-inspired creation. This year's theme, Winter Magic, is sure to test the limits of creating frosty effigies.

  • Modern Hotel Helps With New Year's Resolutions

      The hotel/bar is turning some of its first floor rooms into pop-up shops for local nonprofits, businesses and artisans Friday, Dec. 28, and Saturday, Dec. 29, from 5-10 p.m. Each "shop" will feature a theme, offering visitors the chance to peruse the top New Year's resolutions—and maybe find one that fits.

  • Holiday Rawk Pulls Together Boise's Local Arts Scene

    Thursday Dec. 6
      For the Thursday, Dec. 6 RAW event, organizers welcome visitors to celebrate the end of 2012 with Holiday RAWk, a mashup of more than a dozen performing and visual artists. Inside, host Dylan Haas and DJ Myko help get the evening started while event-goers peruse work from artists, including Lori Simpson, Lythium Flash and Olive Wicherski, Carri Sue and Cat Leewaye whose work uses strong pastel colors.
