      Sometimes great artistic passions are ignited by seemingly innocent circumstances--coincidental encounters, a glimpse of beauty, an exquisite bit of timing. Melanie Fales, curator of education and acting interim executive director for Boise Art Museum (BAM), hopes to optimize the spontaneous nature of inspiration by bringing "hands-on" experiences to BAM visitors through free monthly art demonstrations to deepen appreciation of the museum's current exhibitions.

      Irene Deely, owner and titular artist of the Woman of Steel Gallery, and Daniel Georget, artists' rep and gallery expert, have forged a new partnership. Since 2003, Deely has been the single proprietor of Woman of Steel, and her metal fabrications have taken center stage. Last spring, Deely brought Georget in as the gallery's director, and now they have split the previously single space into two distinct galleries.

      Downtown in the city of Eagle, the last Thursday of the month is a perfect day to find a little bit of everything, including art, wine, live music and plenty of talent. From 5 to 9 p.m., more than 15 businesses throw open their doors and welcome passersby to stop a moment and admire the art and fare that Eagle has to offer.

    An annual art exhibition at Boise State's Women's Center
      On March 10, as part of Boise State's celebration of Women's History Month, the Women's Center unveiled their fifth annual National Juried Art Exhibition. The first vestiges of the show were developed around 1999 and by 2001, it was a regular event. Successive exhibits have broadened and thrived, pulling in creative output from women all over America.
