  • Tis the Season for Bad Air

Calls were light this week to the Mayor's Hotline, but the topic du jour was clearly (or not so clear) air quality.

It seems more and more Boiseans are getting fed up with air pollution, and want the worst offenders to pay. Among the ideas: get delivery trucks to clean up their act and make I-84 a toll road for those who don't meet emissions standards.

You may want to think twice before you step outside to get some fresh air. The Idaho Department of Environmental Quality has once again issued a yellow air quality alert for the Treasure Valley.

The alert means no open burning in Ada or Canyon Counties, and a plea to limit drive time.

Thanks to the inversion pattern over Boise, the Idaho Department of Environmental Quality issued a burn ban Friday morning. Until further notice, no open burning or wood burning are allowed within the city.
