  • Board Set to Select Trustees

      The Idaho State Board of Education is putting the selection of the first trustees of the newly formed College of Western Idaho on the fast track.

      The board will hold a special meeting on Monday to select the five trustees who will direct the formation of the new community college in Ada County.

      Today is the day to vote whether to create a new community college in the Treasure Valley, funded by an increase in property taxes.

      The ballot is fairly simple: Go here for a sample of what it might look like.

      Voting today is like any other election in Ada or Canyon counties. Go here for voting locations. Polls close at 8 p.m.

  • Auld Gets A Deuce

      Just days after he was featured in the Idaho Statesman opining against the Community College taxing district, anti-property-tax crusader Jim Auld must have been celebrating.

      Late Tuesday night, Auld was picked up by Boise Police for irregular driving, and found to have a blood alcohol content of .12, according to BPD officials.

  • Vote Early, Vote Often

      Ada County is giving voters the chance to cast their ballots early for the upcoming community college special taxing district election.

      Anyone who cannot vote on election day, or who just wants to get a jump on things, can take advantage of early voting at locations in Boise, Eagle and Meridian ahead of the May 22 election day.

      They've got an uphill battle at the ballot box, but the campaign to create a new community college in the Treasure Valley is raising money at a fair clip.

      The campaign announced today they've raised $300,000 from private donors.
