• It's Moot, Woot Woot

In the state where U.S. Sen. Larry Craig had his bathroom troubles, a judge has now said nay, I say, nay, to a very peculiar request from Idaho's senator.

Days ago, Craig thought he had so much to say about his case that he asked that his brief be enlarged.

I swear, we are not making this up.

      Today, black-robed people sayeth, nay.

  • Craig Motion Denied by Minn Court

ACLU brief on Craig's behalf also denied
Judge Charles Porter ruled today that he is denying U.S. Sen. Larry Craig's motion to withdraw his plea.

Update: Craig made the argument that he didn't fully understand the significance of his acts in the Minneapolis airport in June, or the charges that applied to them when he was arrested by Sgt. Dave Karsnia.

In his ruling today, Judge Porter called that argument "illogical."

From Gov. C.L. "Butch" Otter's office: "He's ready to act. He's made a decision" on Craig's replacement, said Jon Hanian, Otter's spokesman. It's all up to Craig, now.

  • The Arrest Audio

The Minneapolis police have released the audiotape of the arresting officer's interview with U.S. Sen. Larry Craig, and it's not pretty.

In the interview, you can hear Craig arguing with the police officer, Sgt. Dave Karsnia, over the exact details of what happened.

"I'm disappointed in you sir, I really am," said Karsnia after he and Craig failed to agree about the details of the action.

"I'm not gay. I don't do these kinds of things," Craig said.

  • So Begin The Internet Videos

With the Larry Craig debacle now very much a national story, you might expect to see some independent, ah, media take up the subject.

Can't really vouch for all of them, but it does boggle the mind, to see Idaho's issues trotted out so prominently on YouTube.

  • The Radio Dance

Wherein I do my best to hop to it when radio talk shows come a-calling.

On the air this morning at KBOI 670 AM and on KFXD 630 AM.

Callers are pretty one-sided so far: Craig needs to go. Resign immediately. Most of these are disgruntled Republican/Libertarians who say they're tired of members of Congress lying.

Certainly it doesn't help that some of these more conservative folks are angry at Craig for his positions on immigration or gun control.

  • Larry Craig Arrested

We're only just getting this newsbreak now: U.S. Sen. Larry Craig was arrested in June on lewd conduct charges in a Minneapolis airport.

Details as we get them. Roll Call has the report, but their Web site is clogged to traffic, and no wonder.

We've got an excerpt of Roll Call's report after the jump.
