      When a federal judge struck down Utah's ban on same-sex marriage Dec. 20, 2013, couples flocked to have their unions legally recognized. Since then, Utah convinced the U.S. Supreme Court to halt legalization of same-sex marriages while the high court deliberates on the issue.
