Re: “Golden Star

Well I have a lot of years with the people that cook in the golden star. My mother used to work for release Golden Dragon at 9th and Main for about 15 years. Her name was Emma Louie and Henry and all of them down there were amazing Cooks I learn to eat with chopsticks and I loved egg foo young we had it often. Daily Chinese restaurant that I will go to in Boise is the golden star and their food is absolutely awesome. Try your number to and if you like egg foo young instead of chow mein do a reversal and enjoy will have a little gravy with it too.. he will find the whole dinner is an amazing good dinner.

Re: “Twin Dragon

UPDATE LOCAL EATS LISTINGS AS THEY ARE SEVERELY MISLEADING FOR WHATS AVAILABLE OR EVEN IN EXISTANCE STILL FOR AN OUT OF STATE VISITOR TO LOCATE, GPS SEARCH TO FIND, CALL OR USE LINKS TO WEBSITE PROVIDED TO REACH NOTHING BESIDES AN EMPTY BUILDING!! Will NEVER use noise weekly for any information expecting it to be accurate on any level! Pure deception seemingly produced by a computer without visiting or verified information. Site should be removed so others are not deceived the same! BOO! I'll spread the word about this to aid in site removal & web content control measures being taken to protect consumers!

Re: “North End Chinese

Closed Saturdays. We go here often in spite of it being hit or miss. Usually good though.

Re: “Nam King

A traditional place to eat in Northwest Boise. The food is great and the service is always attentive and friendly.

Re: “Nam King

Terrible at best, food was so bland I might as well eaten ice cubes. They have no idea what an egg roll is (hint it's rolled and in a wrap) and pork whatever you don't just have nasty dish (and the fried rice and chow mien are nasty) in a pot staying hot then put a couple of pieces of pork on it. Last bit not least when someone calls to complain don't yell at them (see Amy's baking company).

Re: “Panda Garden

Best sushi for the best prices! The soups are delicious and the service is great.

Re: “North End Chinese

It's ok. The prices are good and the food is good, nothing great but good. They are closed on Saturdays, so there's that, but otherwise it's a quick stop for a good meal at a good price.

Re: “Panda Garden

This place is great, the food is good, the prices affordable, the service groovy, and the ingredients wholesome. This is a great place to go for any occasion, I take people there all the time.

Re: “Fortune Wok

Hey BW -- the corrected URL was posted over TWO YEARS AGO. Safe to assume no one there reads the website?

Re: “Quik-Wok

Ordered delivery online. Very handy. Our "Hot & Spicy Chicken," "Pepper Beef," and "Crab Rangoon" arrived in reasonable time. Opened bag... no rice! Called the restaurant. "It doesn't come with rice anymore."

Um...... WHAT?!

Chinese food. Without rice.

I will confess that the rangoon and entrees were awesome, and very large. But, there was something missing. Something so fundamental to the experience of chinese delivery that no matter how good every bite tasted, the missing piece was conspicuous and unsettling. The sauce was just laying there in the bottom of the bowl, waiting for something to soak it up. The generous pile of soy sauce packets laid on the coffee table, their obvious destiny denied.

Chinese food. Without rice.

UPDATE: Had a coupon, gave this place another try dine-in. Service was tepid, passive-aggressive, and uninspired. Food was hot and plentiful, but uninspired. And, no surprise -- despite the family meal we got, not one kernel of rice to be seen. One-star is plenty for this place.

UPDATE (about months later): We risked it again, and were disappointed again. Got wrong dish delivered, replacement took forever, food quality was terrible. Called to inquire about possible credit, was hung up on twice.

Re: “Golden Star

Like others, we don't know how this places keeps it's rating! The egg rolls are puffy, greasy and not egg rolls, don't know what they are, but not very good. The chop suey and chow mein just awful! Sorry, but even the waitress, when I asked what to order could not come up with a good suggestion. The only thing we liked was the egg foo young, it was good. Been twice, that's enough.

Re: “Confucius Restaurant

I've lived in Boise for the last 6 years after growing up in Vegas. Confucius is my usual go-to to satisfy my Chinese food fix. The staff is very friendly and consistently have quality, flavorful food! Although my husband and I don't stray very far from our favorite dishes, we've always been incredibly happy with the food and portions. The average cost of dinner for the two of us includes 2 entrées and an order of chicken fried rice is about $30 after tip. For leftovers that easily last another day or so, it's worth the price! So glad we live so close too!

Re: “Yen Ching

Honestly, I could have gotten better Chinese food out of a can. The Chicken Kung Pao was not seasoned and was bland. Hearing the conversation from the 4 adults behind us their dishes were not good either. I don't understand how people can say this is the "Best Chinese restaurant" in Boise - unless they are related to the owner - maybe. I wish I could say something positive, but I can't. 4/12/13

Re: “Golden Star

I love Golden Star and have compared it to main land China. Their Mandarin cuisine is fantastic and very authentic. I've been a fan for years. They are always so polite and friendly and work hard to take care of their customers.

Re: “Ling and Louie's Asian Bar and Grill

I took my son here for lunch and as always I asked the server what his recommendations were because I had never been there before. He told me his favorites and I chose the Sizzling Blackened Chicken and Pork with a Red curry butter. My son chose the kids bento box. We were both very happy with our food. After the first bite of my Jasmine rice and blackened chicken I knew this would be one of those restaurants that I craved! It is definitely worth a try! The decor is modern and comfortable and I am happy to find a restaurant that my son and I equally enjoy.

Re: “Panda Garden

I had high hopes for this restaurant after reading the reviews but was very disappointed. The generals chicken was fatty and greasy and seemed like it was breaded instead of having the crunch that generals chicken should have from dusting it with corn starch and frying it in a very hot wok. Also the Lady Tso Shrimp was so saucy it was like soup. The crab ragoons and wantons were average and the lo mein was very bland. We will not be returning.
