From the very bottom of our hearts, thank you to every single soul who came out to learn about hemp, support the movement, and mingle with other like-minded souls! The first ever Boise H.O.P.E. Fest was a HUGE success, and we'll be back bigger and better next year <3

Re: “Canis Lupus

Look at thenumber of wolves captured in ID in last year's annual wolf report and compare that to the estimated population size: it would be impossible to "implant" females in order to prevent reproduction. You simply could not catch all potential breeding wolves in enough packs to keep the "population in check."

Re: “Canis Lupus

If we are really interested in keeping the wolf population in check, why don't we just use hormonal implants in the females or nueter the males? I know there are enough people who care about animals that we could raise the money and put in the time to do this every year. A year ago I called Fish and Game to suggest this, and the person who took my call snidely remarked "You can just send that money to me" and went on to insinuate that I wanted to save the wolves so I could "view them" as if they were for entertainment purposes. It seems our department of Fish and Game is not considering the welfare of the wolves, but rather the entertainment of Idaho's citizens, and sadly, many think it is fun to kill.
Shooting wolves is particularly evil as they are members of families and have very strong emotional bonds; just one kill shatters the lives of the entire pack. It is unfathomable to me why we would re-introduce wolves just so we can shoot them. The entire ordeal is a horrible tragedy. The Idaho lawmakers who allow this and the people who are participating in this bloodsport should be full of remorse and shame for the pain they are inflicting on these animals.
To shoot animals for food is one thing, but to kill sentient beings for sport is just plain cruelty and should be illegal. How were these people who enjoy torturing animals raised to have no compassion?

Re: “Canis Lupus

How can we destroy wolves? Can't we learn that the economic benefit of having them far outweighs the economic benefit of killing them? And that doesn't even take the moral issues into consideration.

Re: “Canis Lupus

Wolf-foes in the Wood River Valley, where Phantom Hill Pack 3-year old female "Judith" lives, have said they are going to wipe out this pack. They have already killed two Phantoms, inc. "Jewel", a female yearling that was nanny to the pack's pups. Wolf watching could bring millions of dollars to Idaho, but what is IDFG doing? Killing wolves and killing any opportunity for wolf eco-tourism and the dollars that it would bring. A wolf tag goes for $11.50 - that shows how little IDFG and the legislature/commissioners that control the agency, think of wolves. At least four collared wolves have been shot, wasting at least over $10,000 of IDFG money.
