Re: “Commonly Known as Music Benefit Concert

Is this a misprint? It says "commonly known as music benefit concert, Jan 13," in the header. In the article itself it says this will happen Dec. 13? I'm kinda new to Boise so I'm a bit confused.

Re: “Alive After Five: Magic Giant

Magic Giant. One of the greatest bands Ive seen in the last 20+ years. This band is about ready to bust out BIG! I dont bandy about with any undeserved accolades but I was left truly speechless by the performance I saw today in the 95 heat at Alive After 5.

Not since I was floored back in November of 1994 by the then unheard of Dave Matthews Bands performance at The Backstage in Seattle have I been so excited by a new band. Seriously. Smart catchy excellently crafted jam-pop tribal mayhem with sweet-ass vocals delivered by Austin Bis to an audience of 4 generations that this band owned from the first 3 minutes on stage. They had 1000 people in their pocket and commanded a stage presence I havent seen in decades from any act.

Brian Zaghi blew me away as he wielded a cello on a guitar strap as Bis jumped around and off the stage and into the crowd like the pied piper. And ohhh, the tribal drumming...

These guys delivered and they ran the crowd like seasoned pros. Watch em and love em. I did.

Re: “Light in the Dark

Heavy and beautiful!! Boise's answer to Spinal Tap, maybe? Do their amplifiers have an "11" setting?

Re: “Treefort 2017: The Sun and the Mirror Debuts at Linen Building

Darling Rollercoaster was the most most unexpectedly jaw-dropping act I saw at Treefort 5. So glad they're continuing their trajectory as The Sun and The Mirror.

Re: “Eric John Kaiser, Jan. 21, Vine Wine Shop

Interesting connection. We have a short-term stay apartment in the North End of Boise that we refer to as "Ville des Arbres" -- so this story about a Paris-born chanteur performing in "La Ville des Arbres" popped up in a "Google Alert" we have set for online references to our apartment. Small world!

Re: “At Crowbar It's All About What You Don't Know

This evokes memories of The Underground nightclub in Seattle on University Way (aka "the Ave") in the late eighties and early nineties. Descending to the underground to dance all night was an experience I'll never forget. Crowbar could be really cool for Boise.

Re: “At Crowbar It's All About What You Don't Know

Years ago I frequented this place to see/hear THE UNINVITED play. I took many photos of the band, and was often asked if I was someone's mom. Nope, but I got some good pictures and made some friends too.

Umm. Brings to mind the nanotechnological experiments shown the "The Manchurian Candidate".

That was one of the most excruciating performances I've ever seen. I do think he's lost his mind. I wonder what possessed him to think it was a good idea.

I think it's awesome. No longer a employee of the Statesman and having some fun.
