Re: “Face of Boise: Jon Swarthout

What happened with the issue regarding razing the house next to it to make room for a parking lot?

Re: “Face of Boise: Jon Swarthout

Just a little correction - it isn't the "Eastman Church", it was the Immanuel M.E. Church!

Re: “Boise and Garden City

For more about the Northend visit and check out the Hyde Park Street Fair in September! The Northend is home to the largest population per capita of dogs and churches of any other neighborhood in Idaho. It combines progressive art, architecture and culture with the historic and traditional.

Re: “East Boise

In the 1930's Ward Rolfe, with some buddies, used a Model T and built the "B" on Table Rock. Sadly, he passed away in 2011 (just shy of his 100th birthday). Though painted other colors over the decades, he always preferred white. The best part of the story is why they did it: To bring some positive vibes to our community. It was the Depression and employment was a blessing not held by all. If you're looking for something to do, help out your community!

Re: “Welcome to Boise

I hope you will tell us why the valley is a "treasure" and why the area to the east of it is "magic."

Re: “Garden City

Oh come on, Garden City is MUCH more! How about OUR side of the Greenbelt? It runs mostly alongside the Boise river with ducks, geese, otter, mink and the occasional deer. Riverside dining outside at Joe's Crabshack anyone? The Headstart Center and Learning Lab can be found on east 36th st. How about the new pedestrian bridge connecting Boise to Garden City being constructed even as we speak? Kids from all over Ada County go to the Boys & Girls club off Adams Street, and we have some great parks including Waterfront park and Westmorland park by the golf club. Think of all the wonderful places to eat and play along Chinden Blvd. Chinese, seafood, steak! And don't forget that great horse and the classic neon lights at the Ranch Club! I was born and raised in Garden City and yep, we were the red-headed step-child, but we've always been the independent thorn in Boise's foot and we like it like that! We have our own community school, government, library and police department and we may be little, but we're scrappy! Take that, all you Boise folk! I'm from Garden City! Now I'm going to go pick blackberries with other volunteers for the Garden City Senior Center. I'm pushing a senior in a wheelchair, what have you done for anyone lately?
