Re: “ICE Had 89 Ada County Inmates Detained in 2016

How long do we hold them and how much does it cost, including manpower hours, the Idaho taxpayers to do this for ICE? We should hold them as we would any criminal and release or imprison them the same way. We do not pay our police and facilities to be used for detention centers for non-criminals.

Re: “ICE Had 89 Ada County Inmates Detained in 2016

Pursuing sanctuary city status is more than just risky politically - although that should be enough.

Flouting the law, and encouraging others to do the same, undermines the very foundations of our society - a very bad idea.

And - it won't be just the "good" illegal aliens coming to the sanctuary, the bad types will especially seek out sanctuary, knowing that the risk of consequences for their crimes will be low.

For many reasons, this would be a very bad move for Boise.

Re: “SPLC Report Counts Idaho Anti-Muslim Groups

Shelley... what is it, Smith? no offense, but you're wrong. It doesn't matter what or who Trump is. What matters is who people think he is....how can you say that this article is ignorant? It's mostly regurgitated data from other sources, it's not a fckn opinion piece... this article states facts, you know what those are right? I personally don't know that much about hate groups in the US... but I'm sure you know ALL about them... sry for the language BW.

Re: “SPLC Report Counts Idaho Anti-Muslim Groups

As far as I'm aware President Trump doesn't hate Muslims and is not telling anyone to hate them. Some of these groups are not hate groups some truly are. There are terrorists in the USA however and we do not want them no matter what they call themselves. This article is ignorant and creating more fear and hate.

Proud..? They are in contempt of everything they're supposed to do and when they do it they do the biggest crappiest job I've ever seen in any state in any City in this entire nation

Re: “ACHD: Idaho Law is 'Ambiguous' on Who Should Be Shoveling Boise Streets

Achd should be abolished dismantled and the responsibility of the safety of the citizens in Boise should go to Boise. The complete lack of responsibility or wanting to take responsibility of achd in their statements and lack of effort lack of doing anything until forced to is the proof.

I am and millions more people are demanding that they deport all Illegal Aliens immediately.... That is one of the conditions why we the people put Trump in power, to immediately do this...

Re: “Young Organizers of People for Unity Deliver Postcards to Sen. Crapo, Talk School Walkout

Great work! A new generation of activists. It's an uphill climb in Idaho to oppose ill conceived, dangerous and self serving decisions and legislation whether it be in the state or at the national level. We look forward to hearing more.

Re: “Young Organizers of People for Unity Deliver Postcards to Sen. Crapo, Talk School Walkout

Ah, "young organizers"! Is there ANYTHING they don't know?!! (But seriously, more power to 'em! It's great that we live in a country where people are free to disagree and dissent.)

Everybody who's in favor of "unity" are wishing that the other guys would see things THEIR way.

If women are going on strike on February 16, who will fetch beer for the men? (Since it's a Thursday, I guess they can fetch their own, for that one day.)

Re: “Labrador-Sponsored Religious Freedom Bill Could Resurface This Year

I agree! This not what the U.S. is about. We have separation of church and state (including.... especially including schools!) Freedom of religion doesn't mean you get to dictate your morality to the rest of our citizens!

Re: “When Immigration Politics and Faith Collide

Democrats are vile creatures who will commit any crime to regain their pathetic grasp on political power.
POTUS is authorized by 8 U.S.C. 1182(f).
These 'judges' are obviously wrong, and should be removed from the bench for the appearance of impropriety.... If you do not obey the law nether will I..

Re: “When Immigration Politics and Faith Collide

We never know what someone has been through before they are assigned refugee status; the stories I've heard make me grateful for my place in the birth lottery. Fear of the unknown is human; but so are curiosity and compassion. It's worth considering how we want to be remembered or judged for our words or actions. Thankfully, most Idahoans I know are good people.

"Alaskry was among nearly a dozen Iraqi interpreters who told The Associated Press they were taken off planes or were told their flights were cancelled after Trump's order, which also banned refugees from Syria indefinitely.

The ban outraged combat veterans who credited the Iraqis with saving their lives. The Pentagon recommended that Iraqis who had supported the U.S. mission be let in."

Re: “When Immigration Politics and Faith Collide

Quoting out of the Bible is fine if what is said is supported by a text that can be verified. One verse is often not enough.

As for what is happening now, it is blown out of proportion. The idea is for a 120 day stay on bringing refugees while the new administration seeks better vetting. I am not sure that security vetting is even possible. But he new administration needs to see where the existing effort has been lacking and seek to do better. That is not an unreasonable request. Since fewer than half the Countries which contain large populations of Muslims are on the list, I do not see anything racist about it. It is common sense.

Re: “When Immigration Politics and Faith Collide

It's dangerous to quote out of the Bible - particularly the Old Testament - to justify the sheltering of "foreigners," because a key tenet seems to be AVOIDING integration with the Philistines and Babylonians! King Saul was commanded to kill 'em all - men, women, children, and livestock!

Christ changed things up, by teaching that EVERYBODY - even the despised Samaritans - is our neighbor. And most Christians accept that and are happy to welcome and provide aid to refugees.

HOWEVER... there's a big divide between being a "welcoming city" and a "sanctuary city."

I have friends from a half-dozen countries, including Iraq, who have come here seeking peace and prosperity, and I welcome them. At the same time, I appreciate that my government is trying to keep TERRORISTS out. Let's welcome people who want to coexist, but reject the "Death to America" Faction, huh?

Re: “Boise "Welcoming City" Resolution Affirms City Commitment to Immigrants, Disgust With National Immigration Actions

Boise needs to stand up and be the sanctuary city that it should be.......there are needs not being met and only the strong can stand firm against the likes of Trump and his fascist cronies who are trying to take unlawful control of what the right thing is to do regarding those less fortunate. Be a voice for true freedom Boise. Stop "the ban"
