Re: “Street Spit: Cannibal Corpse, The Band

I think dude Morris is zorched as it seems "the toils of excess have lost their romance" for Mr "I cant spell/distinguish between video/photo,or anything post cro-mag man" Morris.

Article killed it, just saw it. WOW! Not from Idaho but liked it.

Re: “An Indiecater of Success

Jeremy may very well be the nicest musician I've met in Boise. It's great to see him find success outside of Boise during what has assuredly been some very tough times for him and his family.

Re: “Show Etiquette

As an avid concert-goer and local music enthusiast here is my 2-cents worth on wearing your band shirts. Band schwag/Merch is INCOME for the band, as well as promotion. Selling merch helps bands pay for things like recording & touring. Also, they are somewhat nostalgic, particularly if the show date or tour itinerary is printed on them. If you bought a shirt at a band's 1st CD release, and you wear it a show 2 or 3 years down the road when the band is big, that's bad-ass!!

Bottom line, support your favorite band(s), buy their merch & wear it when you feel like it...grocery shopping, going out for coffee, a weekend in Oregon....and most definately TO THEIR SHOWS!!!

Re: “Show Etiquette

Just because people at Iron Maiden concerts do it doesn't mean that it's a good idea. Actually i tend think that means that it's a bad idea. I mean, what point are you trying to prove, unless you actually don't have any other shirts which is another issue all of its own.
Wear something else, you look like a douche.

Re: “Show Etiquette

don't wear the band shirt?? WTF, you've never been to a "sea of black" Iron Maiden concert???

Re: “Show Etiquette

Oh man, my concert pet peeve is when teenies feel entitled to wait until the half hour between opener and headliner and then push people around until they get to the front. Come on, don't be rude like that: we got here first and it's general admission, fair's fair. It's terrible at KF, but infinitely better when an older band like Skinny Puppy or The English Beat come. Best shows I've experienced there.

I agree with the short people comment. I'm only 5'4"!

Re: “Show Etiquette

You're not supposed to wear the t-shirt of the performing band? Since when?

The other things I'd add are:

Take care of your things. Don't spill drinks and so on on your neighbors. And I have a shirt that's full of burn holes because the smokers behind me were too drunk to keep track of what their cigarette was doing.

We're there to hear the band, not you, #1. Unless it's a band where *everyone* is singing along, keep it to the shower. Especially if you can't sing.

We're there to hear the band, not you, #2. If you just have to converse during the music, go elsewhere. We don't care about your weekend.

Re: “Show Etiquette

I don't have a problem with people wearing a band's t-shirt to their own show. I think it's sweet to see people who obviously don't care about being cool and just want to show how much they love the band. I can't wait to see this trend reverse. I'd love to go to a show and see the entire audience wearing a band's t-shirt. After all, that's why you're there. Please drop this pretense of being to cool to be sincere. Also, the number #1 should be, if you are tall, do not wiggle your way through the crowd and stand in front of short people. My friend once scolded some tall older dudes who squeezed their way though a large crowd of Lily Allen fans and stood directly in front of some teenage girls. He was, in that moment, my hero. Oh, and also, but you %$#@ing camera away. You are missing the show and you are irritating me.

Re: “Putting the Farmdog Down

Sorry Chenoa!
I'm not the only one who wanted to quit!
How hard is it to find another bassist? Probably not too difficult.
How hard is it to find one, who also manages the band; from booking to promotions/production, advertisements/posters/handbills, website/ online social networking? I think this will prove to be much more difficult and time has shown this to be true.
After reading your comment, I just felt compelled to say something. There is much, much more to the story!
I think Amy's article put everyone is the best light possible without dragging into it all the inter-personal drama that occurs in a rock'n'roll band of 7 people, or any band for that matter.
Truth be told, other members had already begun to develop their exit strategies before I made any formal announcement!

Peace, love & light to all!
