Re: “Don't Listen Here

Interesting, Nickelback played to sold out venues in 2011 and by the looks of the video posted for Josh, he sold out a Starbucks. Compared to drivel of copycat wannabe's in the, everyone is musician, music industry - Nickelback are what they are. Like them or not, they are successful...they laugh all the way to the bank. And that pisses off individuals like cynical, balding, paunch(y), Josh..............Sorry about your small p.enis Josh.

Re: “Don't Listen Here

I had to follow up with this after some time had passed.

By writing 150 words Joss Gross went viral around the internet - and he did so in a way that generated a very large amount of praise as well as negative critisism - That is awesome. Most journalists will never achieve this. While this isn't a career maker by any means, it's certainly a boon. All of this happened because he humourly, and cleaverly, expressed his opinion about a relatively trivial subject which created strongly polarized opinions.

Everyone has an opinion about a band. Few have their opinion go virtal.

Regardless of my opinion on Nickleback, I apreciate this piece. It's truly a work of art.

I eagerly look forward to more writing from Josh Gross. :-)

Re: “Don't Listen Here

Wow, Josh Gross, you're a moron. You've had absolutely no success whatsoever. You are a hack that has to put stories in a flyer sized newspaper. It's amazing that nobody's like you have the audacity to criticize successful, creative people such as Nickelback, when you have absolutely nothing going for you. When you make dumb comments like you have then you are not only speaking to Nickelback but also to the millions and millions of fans they have worldwide. You are an idiot and you will continue to sit behind your desk smoking 2 packs of cigs per day, shaving every 3rd day and continuing to be a nobody that will never do anything significant in your life because you lack the brains, creativity, or talent to do anything.

Re: “Don't Listen Here

a guy did something similar in Little Rock, I believe for the same band, and actually lost his job because of it. The venue had been advertising with the weekly newspaper for years and decided to pull all advertising from future papers. whoops.

Re: “Don't Listen Here

The First Amendment allows you and myself to appreciate all comments whether we agree or not. Its journalism and its subjective. Whether its Boise, LA, Seattle, NY, I dont care; the fact is, if you dont like the opinion, ignore it. Dont like Jerry Springer? Turn the channel. Dont like something? Change the fucking channel. Its an opinion, we all have them.

Re: “Don't Listen Here

Just have to say.... liking the band or not.... the whole show was pretty awesome. One of the best I've seen in a while. Nickleback included. Four bands for $45 isn't a bad price.... infact, where can you go get entertained for FIVE hours for that cheap?! Oh... and having Gavin Rossdale run around IN the croud, touching people?! WEELLLLLLL worth the money!!!!! Not a fan of your article. Everyone is entitled to their opinion and I do respect that... but the next time you want to bag on something/someone... try to have some class about it.

Re: “Don't Listen Here

To all of you that are here to defend the Nickelbackers, I hate to give this any attention but hey, I got 5 mins to kill, let me say this:

Nickelback lyrics sound like something a 16 year old would write. They are the kind of lyrics that SHOULD have been written by a 16 year old, and not just because they suggest having sex with minors but also just because they are simply unoriginal and obviously written with a young audience in mind.

Example:
Animals
I'm driving past your house while you were sneaking out
I got the car door opened up so you can jump in on the run
Your mom don't know that you were missing
She'd be pissed if she could see the parts of you that I've been kissing

Chad Kroeger was Born November 15, 1974 - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chad_Kroeger
The song was released November 8, 2005 - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Animals_%28Ni…

...which makes him 31 when the song was released. Seriously, (probably 30 when he wrote it as this was a song from their 5th studio record which means it was probably new material) should a 30+ year old man be singing about having sex with a teenager who snuck out of her mom’s house?
Please remember that this is just an example, there are many more. Feel free to check it out yourselves.

Re: “Don't Listen Here

"Last I checked in journalism standards you do not start a sentence with a dollar sign. Spell it out. If you're going to try and be the cool guy and right something like this, please do not make yourself look stupid by not knowing AP Style."

Last I checked, it was spelled "write." Please do not make yourself look stupid by correcting someone's mistake, while making a much larger and more blatant one in the process.

That is all.

Re: “Jonathan Richman to Show Boise some Modern Love

My one regret (well, one of several) is that I didn't see Richman when he appeared at my college in the early 1980s. I enjoy both his very early stuff ("I'm Straight") and his subsequent songs ("I'm a little airplane NOW!").

Re: “Don't Listen Here

What a Gross assessment by Josh. Nickelback's Chad Kroeger is not only more handsome than Josh but is much more talented. Josh's middle name is mostly likely "Looks". What a turd.

Re: “Don't Listen Here

I always find it funny that whenever someone has a negative opinion about some hack musician, the first thing people (the bands fans) say is "But look how much money they make, they must be good". This statement is the embodiment of why bands like Nickelback (unfortunately) do so well. Radio stations play the crap out of it and everyone thinks they are bajillionaires so teen boys buy their music cause they haven't developed their own opinions yet and the band makes their ill gotten gains. Glad to see a journalist speak their mind.

Re: “Don't Listen Here

I love all the people that just love to hate on Nickelback. The truth is they are really just angry that Char Kroeger figured out how to make more money on their music, still make their harder music that never hears the radio, and sell out tour after tour... Ultimately, the trolls will never see that kind of money in their lifetime... it's called jealousy and I find it hilarious.

Re: “Don't Listen Here

People cry too much. Josh Gross is not the first person to slam Nickleback. If you don't agree, fine! That doesn't mean he should have to write good things about a band he hates. He even stated that he suggested to the staff to find another band to write about since nobody wanted to write good things about Nickleback, but they declined in favor of humorous article like this.

And to everyone crying on the promoter's behalf... Nickleback is at the point in their career, one silly article like this is not going to make people think twice about them. Most people already have their minds made up about them. If anything it made the bands fans rage a little, while making them aware of the concert as well.

P.S. If anyone wants their life, take it. I'll take actually knowing how to play my instrument over fame and fortune any day.
