Re: “What the Hell is a Honey Boo Boo?

Even the commercials for this show make me want to vomit; the Learning Channel should be ashamed for airing this monstrosity. Gotta go puke some more.

Re: “What the Hell is a Honey Boo Boo?

I am English, and allthough we do also have a portion of our society similar to the boo boo family, but as much as I despise this segment of our proud nation, I hole heartedly am beyond belief and don't understand why anyone would broadcast child abuse and total ignorance, in how to bring up a child in today's fast paced and well educated society. For a mother to allow your kids to follow you down the path of morbid obesity, with a blinkered attitude to how unhealthy, materialistic and just wrong, the way she is steering her children through life is disgusting and I feel so sorry for the kids in this program and just realise how lucky my 3 year old really is, not that we spoil or have the means to spoil him just the basic health requirements Funtime and some kind of structure will hopefully ensure he is not expecting a baby at 16, and that he aspires to greater things than a delusional expectation of winning a beauty competition is all I want for him.
Thanks Stu
A shocked stiff upper lipped Brit

Re: “Arrested Development, Season Four

Very fair review. I certainly enjoyed the new season, but with all things that are over-hyped, it may have fell a bit short of expectation. Nevertheless, it was great to see the Bluths up to their usual, albeit modern, antics. (Side Note: Kristen Wiig is spot-on as a young Lucile, bravo!)

Re: “What the Hell is a Honey Boo Boo?

Honey Boo Boo is absolutely an abomination! You are more likely to kill more brain cells watching this show than if you were to huff (inhale) all the scotch guard or computer duster in the world! Why would anyone want to be famous for being, fat, obnoxious, and stupid!? What is happening to this country! No more reality television! Lets get back to the classics like Baywatch... I'm only kidding on that last remark.

Re: “Portlandia: The White Subcultural Equivalent of a Minstrel Show

You people are so stupid and clearly need to wake up and realize that this article in no way is literal in its comparisons.Every heard the term "tongue in cheek"? Its not the quality of the writing, but the lack of quality in the brains reading the article.

Re: “Portlandia: The White Subcultural Equivalent of a Minstrel Show

There is no white subcultural equivalent of a minstrel show. Mean-spirited generalizations about the members of the ruling class? Not the same thing as institutional, violent racism. There's a power/privilege differential that's missing from this analysis.

I am sick of how they NEVER find any REAL evidence!!! The show is boring...same ol' same ol'. They need to find something. Or x the show.

Thanks, (insert your real name). My new favorite phrase is "that gorgon of a mother." I'm glad Squatchy spoke.

Re: “What the Hell is a Honey Boo Boo?

This abortion doesn't represent "America's festishization (sic) of youth, sex, beauty and celebrity," as much as it documents our glossy-eyed fascination with ignorance, slovenliness, poor hygiene and fame for fame's sake. Speaking of abortion, this show is a great argument for upholding a woman's right to choose. Although if that gorgon of a mother were given a choice upon finding out she was pregnant she likely declined to terminate, seeing her pending gestational period as suitable reasoning to ramp up her consumption of chicken deep-fried in chipotle ranch with a side of hot bacon grease.

There is no reason for analysis or thoughtful discussion of this tripe. Simply put, the decline of civilization is being televised in HD. The only thing that makes it even close to bearable is the ability to point and laugh. DH does that better than just about anybody.
Squatchy has spoken.

Re: “1600 Penn: Must-Flee TV

Is the show a comedy? I don't know anyone who laughed once while watching it.

The youngs kids don't add anything. The younger daughter needs acting lessons. Really bad.

Re: “What the Hell is a Honey Boo Boo?

A two point message for Timm!

1. Starting your retort to the article by including the phrase "hating on" automatically puts you in the same intellectual category as the subjects of this show, as does including an exclamation mark after your oddly spelled name. (Honestly, I'm surprised you don't spell the whole thing in CAPPS!)

2. If you have such a hard time detecting humor in the written form, I recommend that you start reading much more, or give up completely.

With an ambiguous sense of seriousness,

Your old pal, Meucup.

Re: “What the Hell is a Honey Boo Boo?

One more reason you shouldn't insult my editor(s): It was much more offensive before it was edited. Anyway, there's a long tradition of satirical criticism, and it's meant to amuse -- not to, as you implore, explore a sincere "discussion of the issue." It's a joke. You either get it or you don't.

Re: “What the Hell is a Honey Boo Boo?

Well, first of all, Timm!, don't blame the editorial staff. They're just allowing me some satirical freedom. But nothing I wrote was untrue. It's not her fault that she's creepy, fat, and monstrous -- but, if she doesn't do something to reverse the trend in the next decade or so, it will become her fault.
