And where can I find a link to this Best of Boise that you speak of?

Re: “Evolving Art

Much of the tone of this piece is pompous and silly - so much I can't adequately respond. But I do suggest, at least, understanding the difference between the Audubon Society and John James Audubon.

Re: “One-Two-Three-Four, Idaho Declares a Caucus War

As a long time Democrat in a red state, I was dismayed when Idaho Republicans closed their primary to anyone not registered as a Rep. Having lived in Valley County for 15 years, voting in the Rep. primary was the only way to have a voice in local politics since Rep. generally ran unopposed. A Valley County Commissioner was defeated in the primary due to Dems voting in the Rep. primary and replaced by a more centrist Republican.

I recently moved to Boise and changed my party affiliation to Rep. Not because I support anything that Republicans believe but so that I can have a voice as to who will run in the presidential election. I plan to vote in the primary for the most unelectable Rep. I can find. I encourage other Dems to do the same.

Re: “Idaho Leg Strikes Out--as Usual

To be fair to asexual, androgynous worker bees, asexuality is a sexual orientation and and androgyny is a gender identity... so unless you're going to hire literal bees, you're not quite maximizing the number of people you could spite.

Re: “Idaho Leg Strikes Out--as Usual

Before you get all gung-ho Pam please do remember that this IS Idaho! the sheeple here do not actually know what stance our legislators take on the issues. If there is an "R" before the name that's good enough for them!! Good thing back in the day there were a few far looking Dems that gave us the Frank Church Wilderness and the like!!

Re: “Idaho Leg Strikes Out--as Usual

In addition, let's fire all the folks who vote against human rights, environmental protection, public education, public good...health care for all...there is a small window of opportunity to file to run for office, whether it be precinct captain, or state legislature, but if you look around and hear no elected official voices that speak your world view...it is time to step up and do your civic duty, or talk a friend into it..filing dates are February 27- March 9, 2012...see http://www.sos.idaho.gov/elect/eleindex.ht…

Re: “Rededicate Your Money Where Your Mouth Is

Adding "sexual orientation" doesn't protect just LGBT people, it protects straight people as well. It means that if I am fired for being straight or for being gay I have a path to ask the state to look into it.

Re: “Note: Decoding 7-7-7

The Socialist / Statist must trade on envy & resentment while regulating compassion. The mind must be controlled and the state must be obeyed in order to be accepted by the collective. Control your language and agree with what is good and just. Accept, Cope, Obey.

What's hilarious is watching the kids from the 60's voice obedience to a large and powerful state, all in the name of state defined compassion. You simply could not have made this up.

The left, void of meaning or hope, search for significance through politicians and public policy. It's a sad time.

Re: “Mail Fodder

Good for you, trying to keep it in neutral. On the other hand, good luck. As one who went to the streets of Coeur d'Alene to protest Idaho's previous execution and has been at Walla Walla to oppose Washington's five state killings, I can tell you there is no neutral in executions. Granted, your lt. governor's uneasiness with the process is an attempt at neutrality that is comfortable in the laps of the most frightening apologists for the lavish and senseless ritual of execution.

Most proponents of the death penalty who consider themselves enlightened would prefer to decide each case upon its individual merits, better to play good-god/bad-god. But the question I'd like to raise with legal minds this side of the US Supreme Court is, "How is it not cruel and unusual punishment to sentence a man to death and then make him serve a 24-year sentence before he's killed, reminding him every day that he will be killed?" Unfortunately, the best he could get from his lawyers was the question about the iffy death protocol which is generally considered irrelevant by any judge with any ambition. As a former journalist, I say, "Forget neutral. There is no objectivity in capital punishment. Tell the truth. Execution is a bad deal for everybody, and Idahoans have to get past it to make meaningful progress in meeting the state's real needs.

Re: “Defending the Daily

Rachel: "News is news, independent of ideological bias, and as someone whose job it is to push those boundaries..."

Please clarify what you mean by "push those boundaries." Are you of the mind that the boundary between news and editorial should be clearly defined, or blurred? I'd say it's much more difficult to clearly define where news ends and ideology begins.

Over many years, I've heard some Statesman readers complain about how conservative the paper is, and others complain about how liberal it is. Which suggests they've probably done a relatively decent job of maintaining a middle-of-the-road ideological stance.

Re: “Defending the Daily

Griffster should check out some of the Racist Skinhead newspapers if the Statesman is to liberal for him.

Re: “Rumor Has It

And it gets worse, Parallax. The nexus between Chicoms and Republicans is Big Money for Big Players- the $ trumps all other values- including god, patriotism or anything else. Globalism wins every time. Oh, they'll play that finger-pointing, partisan blame game when it suits them ("it's those nutty right-wingers!") to maintain appearances and hide their true motives. Talk about shape-shifting!

How about this for Repubs looking out for America's interests-

Money money money money! Money! Just count on the MSM to get us the real facts. Why would they ever lie to us?

Re: “Rumor Has It

What just a minute! The Boise Weekly coming to the defense of Republican Gov. Butch Otter!!!??? I had to check the newspaper's cover...yup, Boise Weekly. I scanned the cartoon panel. Bush, Cheney and Christians weren't mentioned once. I checked the cover again. Yup... Boise Weekly. This is really odd I thought, until I realized that The Boise Weekly was defending the Communist Chinese proposed Free Trade Zone or Special Economic Zone to be constructed south of the Boise Airport. Well then it all made sense. Even the Boise Weekly will jump ship and pledge allegiance to a misguided RHINO Republican Governor as long as a Socialist, Communist or Globalist cause is to be hailed as a boon to Idaho. After all look at the editorial and reporting staff, lockstep Liberal Left Wingers one and all. I'm sure Barack Hussein Obama is all in favor of F.T.Z's and S.E.Z.'s on American soil. That in of it's self should be a monstrous red flag (get the pun?) for Idahoans. So who are we to believe? The local People's Daily? A RHINO Republican governor? Or common sense as to the best course for Idaho and America?

Re: “Rumor Has It

That was pretty much how I heard the story! But nah, it couldn't happen here. That'd be like Newsmax gaining a presence at BW, or Murdoch and gov't. people getting in to bed together. Those rightwingers get some crazy ideas, don't they?

Re: “Rumor Has It

When I first heard the story it was presented as "Butch Otter and the Republicans are selling Idaho to the Chinese!".
