Re: “One Officer, Scores of Tickets and a Familiar Racial Disparity

I am appalled. Some folks feel empowered by Mr. Trump's Election and behave accordingly. Facts verified by credible third-party reporting agencies. I am tired of racism, criticism based upon religious beliefs or sexual orientation. We are all humans and we are all different. That is exactly how the Good Lord intended us to be. I've read the Bible many times. I've translated portions of Ancient Greek and Ancient Hebrew. And no where, absolutely no where, do I find any statements whatsoever by the Good Lord advocating such terrible behavior. I do read the Good Lord advising us to love the Father with our whole heart and soul, and then to love one another in the same fashion. No footnotes. No exceptions. No qualifiers. Each and every one of us has an obligation to treat each other as we wish to be treated. This is so basic that even Trumpettes and current Republicans should be able to understand as the wording confines itself to their comprehension level----single syllable words.

Re: “Boise 2017 Election Results: A Majority of the Minority

Further proof Boise is nothing more than a pit of virtue signaling "well wisher" slackivists masquerading as a progressive city. Want better voter turn out? Put your voter booths in Star Bucks and hand out "I am more special than you" stickers written in blue and orange for voters. Do this and I promise you 90% voter turn out next local elections.

Re: “Dr. Bob Kustra Announces Retirement as Boise State President

President Kustra was Illinois Lieutenant Governor. It may just be a typo on BW's part, but uncorrected it becomes a factual error. Semantics aside, Kustra will be sorely missed. He has made BSU one of the finest institutions of higher education in the west. Against all odds, the school continues to improve and thrive, year after year. This position will be very hard to fill.

Re: “Dr. Bob Kustra Announces Retirement as Boise State President

That should be Illinois Lieutenant Governor, shouldn't it?

Mr. Reid brings an expanded awareness to his craft of ranching/farming, THIS is what I would define as progress, true progress.

Re: “Broad Street: Not Yet LIV-able

Follow the money. If Joe Citizen parks there, ticket or towing, no questions, no appeal. If contractors violate the rules, city officials say well look into it, meaning go pound sand, cause Im getting a kickback, so I aint biting the hand that feeds.

If that were not the case, tickets would have already been issued, and impound yards would be full of construction vehicles.

Re: “UPDATE: Boise Brothers Craft Their Own Blueprint for Better Bike Protection on Eighth Street

How about something that does not cost any money... why not close the two block of 8th street to all cars, except handicapped and delivery. The store can have more sidewalk space and we all feel safer.

Re: “2017 Election Results: Sanchez, Thomson, Woodings Win Boise Council Seats

Somebody needs to investigate Caldwells mayor. Nobody who has been in office as long as he has wins by that large of a margin. People fear him. He has been physically abusive to city staffers and has council members cowing. His manipulation of TVCCs development plans in Caldwell to get the taxpayers to pay for a new, unnecessary city hall are just a few of the items that should be looked into, and yet I bet no one will talk.

Re: “The Trip to Spain: The Road Best Traveled

Me and my friends are planning to go to spain this January. We would love to see some nice beaches with clear water and some stunning scenery. We were thinking Majorca,Ibiza and Canary Island, we are up to some adventures and experience a great nightlife in our travel. I came across this great article too here in https://www.canaryislandsinfo.co.uk/el-hierro/things-to-do/ but i wanted to hear your thoughts first. Can anyone suggest any ideas or tips? Any help is kindly appreciated :)

Re: “The Squeaky Wheel

I don't mind bikes who follow the vehicle laws (and enjoy cruising thru needless red lights), but when cyclist rides in the center of the lane, UPHILL, in the main car lane (with accompanying bike lanes), he is just ASKING for a run-in. Use the bike lanes unless they don't exist. Otherwise, pretend you're a bike, up against WAY more horsepower than you want to engage with.

Re: “The Squeaky Wheel

The "buffered bike lanes" that were experimented a year or two back were AWFUL!!! Who thought that was a good idea? I'm glad they're gone.

Sure - cyclists might be a little safer, or have the perception of a little more safety, in the middle of the block. But at every intersection, the parked cars blocked the view, making cyclists behind them even harder to see! And visibility is already one of the biggest challenges. (I have this theory... if a motorist sees me, as a general rule he won't deliberately run into me. But if I'm invisible to him, all bets are off.) I had several close calls when emerging at intersections, when motorists had the view blocked by parked cars.

Put traditional bike lanes where they make sense. Maybe even protected (you know, with a curb or pylons) where bicycle use is particularly heavy. But - the behind-the-cars bike lanes? BAD IDEA! (My 2 cents.)

Re: “UPDATE: Boise Brothers Craft Their Own Blueprint for Better Bike Protection on Eighth Street

There are ample examples of road barriers (rubber bumpers on the streets in Spain, for example) that can be put down at a much lower cost than the $91k being spent in front of the city hall. I'm happy to hear that the ccdc will be passing the management of the street to the city.
