Oh poor poor little Mayor's office having a more difficult time than expected blowing smoke up or asses.

Bieter only cares about the handful of people giving him and his friends money. It is that small group of businessman which has gotten between the city and the citizen. Term limits prevent this kind of entrenchment. Look carefully and see the small group and their wives in key posts in and near government. They even did a newspaper article about this gang of thieves and their vision for Boise

Why do you liberal idiots keep electing his team? Clearly there is corruption. Clearly there is disrespect for the ordinary person living in Boise and the burbs. This F-35 thing is leaving huge openings for better people to seek office. Lets hope and pray.

Not all are searching to rent...much less in apartment like environments. I am single...lots of singles out there dreaming of purchasing a house. Yes, a house. I couldn't find an affordable small....er house, in Boise....My heart is and will remain in Boise. However, my still, much too large, yet affordable new too me home, is not in Boise. PLEASE, deciders, stop forgetting that all of your citizens, are not the family types. Stop building HUGE houses that nobody spends much time in. What's really the point in that? Homes in Boise are mostly a place to eat, sleep, bathe, then work and play....your Veteran, who beat homelessness, and purchased a home....Crystal Dunkin

Many F-35 opponents like myself have attended years of F-35 hearing conducted by proponents , the majority of us are strong supporters of our military.
We became skeptical o F-35 levels because until 2016 F-35 proponents repeatedly denied that they knew how loud this aircraft is while consistently assuring us that these aircraft would be good neighbors.

Some of us have spent several years within our local & state governments as citizen activists trying to reform Idaho's unconstitutional Forced Annexation law, current law confiscates voting & property rights of County property owners.
During these years we learned much about the lobbyist cartel that has selected & elected our state & local officials & wag their tails.

The same lobby cartel is promoting the F-35s, they stand to make many millions off of the homes, schools & businesses that will be condemned by EPA noise standards & rebuilt else where. The economic & health impact damages will be signifficant & be carried by taxpayers.
We have gathered the legal standing data needed to hold individual F-35 financially accountable once neighborhood associations are united.

As Mr. Hutchings points out Gowen Field has hosted many very loud jets over the years. Bleeding ears? Permanent ear damage? I have been in an audience at an airshow where an F-16 made a nearly 90 degree turn to go up vertically to 12,000 feet with afterburners going. It wasn't quiet, but it wasn't deafening in any way. Why does CLB need to tell these lies?

Magic Giant. One of the greatest bands Ive seen in the last 20+ years. This band is about ready to bust out BIG! I dont bandy about with any undeserved accolades but I was left truly speechless by the performance I saw today in the 95 heat at Alive After 5.

Not since I was floored back in November of 1994 by the then unheard of Dave Matthews Bands performance at The Backstage in Seattle have I been so excited by a new band. Seriously. Smart catchy excellently crafted jam-pop tribal mayhem with sweet-ass vocals delivered by Austin Bis to an audience of 4 generations that this band owned from the first 3 minutes on stage. They had 1000 people in their pocket and commanded a stage presence I havent seen in decades from any act.

Brian Zaghi blew me away as he wielded a cello on a guitar strap as Bis jumped around and off the stage and into the crowd like the pied piper. And ohhh, the tribal drumming...

These guys delivered and they ran the crowd like seasoned pros. Watch em and love em. I did.

Right on Spencer, you nailed it! These pathetic, retired, middle class residents in the BOI vicinity are so whiny about keeping their homes and living in neighborhoods with relative quiet. I am assuming you live in the flight path of the jets and will enjoy the elevated sounds of freedom these F 35s will bring. I'm kind of jealous.

Are any of you honest enough to admit that this very same base once had F-4 Phantoms? Those are loud at full burn for takeoff. You folks got lucky and have had one of the quietest planes in the Air Force there for a while. But don't pretend there have never been loud planes there, and no, kids ears did not bleed. You are some pretty pathetic whiners.

Those who purport we generously accept military jet noise as the sound of freedom have done so at the expense of freedom. It's neither peace nor freedom. The United States Of America founded with the common commitment to a moral proposition: "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness." I suggest a patriotic devotion to and vigorous support for one's country's defense begins and ends with your neighbors established property rights or the rights of American children to be free from hearing damage. We are faced with governmental tyranny that's tightly wrapped in the sounds of a military industrial complex.

Mr Journee is full of hearsay, not very professional or accurate or helpful. I have attended numerous meetings by the airport, CLB even Chamber/IANG/Hupp, have been very orderly considering the number of people in attendance. Mr Journee and Boise Weekly have illustrated the City is trying to commit Boise to an endeavor that affects thousands of people while admitting they don't know what they are getting into. Wait and see what a NEW EIS says, which will be too late. The numbers, facts, studies quoted by CLB is data supplied by the airport's own Noise 150 study, the Air Force's EIS study and numerous well documented reports from around the country concerning the F-35. The CLB meetings are open public forums where all are invited..As for rhetoric, I have heard plenty from both sides.The "sound of freedom " is actually the sound of this debate and our responsibility to hold our elected officials and government accountable. Boise has a nationally recognized brand built on quality of life that brand is threatened by this mission. Is it worth it? We want peace and the freedom a strong armed forces provides, but just do it someplace else. You act like being near jets is such a big deal. I've lived on military air bases and I find the "noise" from jets pleasant. F-35's don't make any more noise than any other jet fighter we have. F-15/16/18/22/35 . . pick one, they are all within 1-3 db of each other and the human ear can't even tell the difference between 1-3db of sound level. F-35's also cruise 10db quieter than say an F-16. You people are a bunch of whining liberal babies. Please excuse our noise, it's the sound of freedom.

The F-35 official impact study specifically tailored to Boise that the Boise Independent School District refers to is the one provide by the USAF after we've been selected. By that time the decision has been made. The Statesman wants us all to just except the F-35 and let the city fix the problems afterwards - is that what the Boise Independent School District is suggesting ??? There is more than enough official government data out there now to know exactly how the F-35 will effect our children as well as our community.

News Flash: Check out the issues in Burlington, VT and Widbey Island, WA with F-35s and FA-18s.
Per Mayor Beiter: The military does not fly between 8-5 M-F or should I ask since when?
Per the airport on Channel 7 last week: They will not return calls as they said they would do in an interview about the community garden.

Wasting time on yet another noise study is just a stalling tactic.

I live far too close too and whenever some plane fails to follow their noise procedure every window shakes and makes it impossible to hear anything.

Boise is stalling because it hopes the current housing prices will drop to save on the cost of the houses that they know from the last study they'll have to buy.

They're going to have to buy the houses that are impacted severely, and trying to figure that out without the F-35's isn't going to work.

Failing to make a choice now makes it impossible for me to decide what to do. Will Boise buy my house? Will Boise abandon the idea? Will Boise tank my homes value, keep my taxes high, and make it impossible to sell?

I don't care if the city gets the F-35's and has to buy me out, and I don't care if they don't come. I do care that this sitting on their hands keeping me in Limbo on what I'll have to do.

Re Mr. Journee's remarks, it is Gowen Strong, the City of Boise, and the State that has used the economic study about the A-10s to tout the potential benefits of bringing the F-35 to Boise. See, for example, Megan Ronk's op-ed in the Idaho Statesman: http://www.idahostatesman.com/opinion/readers-opinion/article131132189.html. Costs--i.e., potential negative impacts--are not considered in these estimates.

Further, in 2012, the Air Force did conduct a socioeconomic impact analysis of the F-35 in Boise (albeit for a different proposal) and that study also did not consider any costs.

It is indeed incredibly misleading to use an analysis of economic benefits (only) to tout the potential impact of the F-35 in Boise.
