Re: “John McGee, Who Left Idaho Senate Following Sex Scandal, Emerges as New VP of Development for Boise Rescue Mission

I think the Boise Rescue Mission is lucky to have someone as intelligent and connected as a former US Representative. I hope they are paying him what he is worth.

Re: “Idaho Environmental Forum Considers Aftermath of Pioneer Wildfire

Wildfire causes lots of damage to the forest. Not only the forest the fire also damages the villages surrounded by the forest. Environmental fire not only affects the tree and animals, but it also affects the home. The Wildfire grows rapidly and causes lots of damage. Wildfire can cause due to various of reasons. So after the damage one should protect their home under home insurance policy. As after the damage one should file a claim with the help of Florida insurance adjuster(http://allclaimsusa.com/) for filing the claim.

Re: “Mail July 12, 2017

Three of the four letters decry the "transfer of wealth" from poor folks to those darned one-percenters... who obviously don't need more wealth. (I'm sure it's just an interesting coincidence, and not that the authors were using some sort of boiler-plate to compose their letters.) But it raises an interesting topic. If poor folks are being given free (to them) health care, and then that free health care is withdrawn or otherwise adversely modified, can it really be called a "transfer of wealth"?

This country is $20,000,000,000,000-plus in debt already. I s'pose if you aren't a taxpayer or money-earner, that's no big deal. But at some point, I can't help but feel the House of Cards will collapse. Who will provide the free health care, post-collapse? (And free college, too, while we're at it?)

Full disclosure - I'm NOT a "one-percenter" - far from it. I'm lower middle class, struggling to keep head above water, pay my taxes, and keep my family insured.

Re: “Dr. Kevin Cahill

But... What are the negative impacts (costs to the community)? They say they exist but failed to provide them. I can't even find a link to the pro-bono work Dr. Cahill did previously. I think it would have been great to share that information.

Re: “Dr. Kevin Cahill

I'm finding a lot of the negative feedback on this proposal, from Boise area citizens, is the noise pollution of the zones they expect the aircraft to fly over. Right now, the loudest military aircraft rarely make stops in Boise and primarily stay around Mtn Home. Currently, there's tolerable noise for those of us who live near'ish to the airport. F-35s are another monster. But that's not all there is to the drawbacks. Political hands are being greased, of course. Probably a kick-back to the City for their cooperation. For me, the big kick in the face with this push is that this aircraft is a money pit, and has been for years. It's still not even probably 80% safe to fly yet. Republicans claim that there's not enough money for a Universal health care system in America, yet they're fine with spending $40B taxpayer dollars on the F-35 program, and countless more funds for the bloated defense budget. Why are we not complaining about this?

Re: “For Rent: Boise's Historic-Low Vacancy Rate Triggers a Flood of New Apartments

I noticed this tidbit.

----Also on Johnson's wall is a framed JPM ledger page, circa 1958, showing rentals ranging from $40 to $45 a month. That's a far cry from what the U.S. Housing and Urban Development Department today calls "affordable."----- Then this......----Affordable Rent for a family of four in each of the categories would be $615 (Extremely Low), $804 (Very Low), $1,286 (Low) and $1,929 (Workforce).-----

If you run $45 via a inflation calculator for 1958, you will see it's $381. I'd say that $615 is too much by 2X. End Dollar Devaluation.

Re: “Dr. Kevin Cahill

Boise City has decided that it's not politically correct to go against the F-35. It has Bipartisan support in the Congress and is a fav of Dem establishment. Perhaps Obama lobbied Bieter for the F-35 on his visit a few years ago. Most City Council members are immune from political backlash, as they are in "soundproof" parts of town that don't hear airport traffic much. Military traffic avoids the Northend. That keeps the "peace" politically. So don't expect help from enviros that might get upset about noise pollution voting against the Politburo at City Hall over this.

Re: “For Rent: Boise's Historic-Low Vacancy Rate Triggers a Flood of New Apartments

Isn't it great for the investors!! Isn't it crappy for avg family that doesn't make the pumped up $64,000 a year.
The wages in Boise haven't kept up with even the Government's 4% avg wage yearly increases.
You have a work force making between $9-15 hr and are suppose to quaifiy for 3 times the rent amount. Are you guys drinking your own coolaid? And maybe someone needs to remind you of Arco in eastern Idaho and what they are burying there, exgovern Ceil Andrus knows

The real scandal is what happens behind closed doors inside the homeless shelters. They don't provide the help people like to think they do and they put on a show for the media for donations.

It was NOT a sex scandal - the woman didn't consent! It was a sexual harassment scandal. Please fix.

Re: “The Curse of Being Hillary

I liked the opinion piece but you may have left a little out. Other than committed progressives, those concerned about climate change, and those who could see through the con man, the democratic base didnt turn out. Thats been shown in studies. Yes, in key Midwest states people who hadnt voted in a while turned out for Trump, but she lost because those who should have supported her didnt show up. We now have to face the fact that the Russian effort was successful. In such an election, all they had to do was cool the enthusiasm of Hillary leaners a bit and they managed to do that with the steady drip of innuendo from the released emails. Then there were the fake news stories, tactics already in use by the right fringes. I think that the rogue NY FBI office, who considered Hillary the devil incarnate and tended to listen to the conspiracy theories, set up Comey so he felt he had no choice but spring the October surprise. If the Electoral College worked the way it was intended to, they would not have confirmed Trump.

Re: “ICE Officers Told to Take Action Against All Undocumented Immigrants Encountered While on Duty

It are illegals as immigrant is technically wrong. An immigrant one becomes after having gone through the process succesfully. Look libs abt get the facst on their side so they change our language which then can prove a negative a positive. Watch it as they try to change no into yes in a heart beat but it must be stopped. Its treacherous.

Yes! Finally we are enforcing our immigrating laws. And, please stop using the fake news euphimism "undocumented immigrants"!

Re: “The Curse of Being Hillary

The Democrats hitching themselves to Hillary and Obama has been a disaster for the Party. In eight years the Dems have gone from majorities to minority party in both houses of Congress. Of the fifty States Dems only control three; California, Oregon, and Rhode Island. And they nominated Hillary for President despite her high negatives. To lose to someone as unpopular and untrusted as Donald Trump!
It's called voter rejection. And they're blaming everyone else for it
