Re: “Cheryl Shurtleff Remembered at Boise Art Museum

A great review, well written and full of information. I have never heard of this artist but the detail with which Mr. Schnoor describes his subject makes me wish I could travel to Boise and see this exhibit.

Re: “First Thursday: Michelle Tullis Exhibit

Your portraiture work of horses on your WEB Site is a portfolio to be very proud of. Just wonderful lighting and poses, one after another. Very enjoyable. Thanks.

Re: “Deadline Looms for 16th Annual Boise Weekly Fiction 101 Contest Entries

Harrison, thanks for the information. Prospective entrants should note the requirement (which I think you've listed somewhere) that the word count is to be determined by Microsoft Word. Oddly enough, its program counts an ellipsis as a word, and in my experience other programs will undercount, for reasons that aren't clear.

Re: “Deadline Looms for 16th Annual Boise Weekly Fiction 101 Contest Entries

C. and Tony,

this is Staff Writer Harrison Berry. I'm running the Fiction 101 contest this year. To answer your questions in order: No, there is no theme for the contest. You're free to write about whatever you want. Tony, this is a blind-judged contest, but you're free to put your name on your entryjust know we'll remove it before sending it home with our judges.

Good luck!

Harrison

Re: “Deadline Looms for 16th Annual Boise Weekly Fiction 101 Contest Entries

Should we put our names on the entry, or is the judging blind?

Does "No Lie" refer to the theme of the contest?

Re: “Campfire Stories

Lets clean up our air quality by cleaning up the wildland firefighting industry. They dither around with the fires for as long as possible. It damages our health. It costs more than it should. It denies us use of our wildlands.

Re: “Author Ali Noorani: There Goes The Neighborhood

Why are all these dark skinned foreign guys fascinated with 7 or above white chicks. They lease a Mercedes to get a date with a blonde. Seems kinda racist on their part.

Re: “COMPASS Open House

COMPASS is a 3rd party player in the grand scheme of all things transportation related. They have no authority over transportation yet are deemed essential by especially the smaller transportation entities as well as VRT. Their functions relate primarily to planning and funding (Federal funds, not local) My feeling is that taxpayers would be far better served in airing their feelings, suggestions and yes, even complaints, to an agency directly involved in making decisions, i.e. your local highway district, City Council, Planning & Zoning Dept or even school district. All those have a large voice in transportation related decisions. If that agency happens to be ACHD your elected Commissioner would be happy to speak with you.

Re: “Do You Have What it Takes to Be Cultural Ambassador of Boise?

Another created position to bloat the budget and make us think it's important. We don't NEED lessons in culture if culture is generated organically by the community on its own. It sounds like someone is unhappy with organic Boise culture and wants to shape or reinvent it.
