Re: “Cruel Summer

Oh BooHoo! Perhaps they should freeload somewhere cooler in the Summer months. I see they have booze and smokes. They cost more than a bus ticket to Seattle.

Re: “Cop vs. Cops: The Case of Brandon Eller vs. The Idaho State Police

Sounds like Nampa and Caldwell PD. Corrupt dirty pool.

Re: “Cop vs. Cops: The Case of Brandon Eller vs. The Idaho State Police

Referring to Eller by his first name in the story isn't unusual. He's already been introduced by both names. No editor worth her/his salt wants to see certain names and words repeated during a story. Apparently some people need to gripe about something everyday. The story is very balanced. It's also under reported elsewhere in media. Give the Weekly some credit for going where others don't tread.

Re: “Cop vs. Cops: The Case of Brandon Eller vs. The Idaho State Police

I know the Mayor will never give your editor permission, but how about a story on this terrible air quality and why it does not show up when cities are ranked for air quality. (They exclude natural disasters from the air quality.) Did you know the number one killer in Africa is lung cancer from indoor cooking fires? Yep, so it's probably high time we stopped pretending the wild land fire smoke is not harmful.

Re: “Cop vs. Cops: The Case of Brandon Eller vs. The Idaho State Police

This reminds me of the corruption & reprisals that i had to endure for over 14 yrs at a food processing plant in caldwell. I was harassed, suspended, laid off for standing up to management & pointing out unethical practices & violations (food as well as safety), & demoted after refusing to commit fraud. It is apparent that not much has changed at the new plant, after talking w/some who still work there. I wish I could have turned to the appropriate govt. agencies about those violations, but based on prior experience w/the DEQ, who seemed to have a chummy relationship w/some in management, I couldn't trust anyone. "I can't believe that the ISP is going to send a deputy to prison". In other words the attitude is, cops r above the law. If cops want civilians' attitudes toward them to change, then that attitude has to change. No one should b considered above the law, no matter what their rank is, even if they r a pillar of the community. The law should apply to everyone, equally & fairly.

Corrupt ISP? You just now are figuring that out? They've been corrupt for years.

Re: “Cop vs. Cops: The Case of Brandon Eller vs. The Idaho State Police

Please stick with either first or last name throughout article. When I got to the part where you mentioned Brandon I felt like saying who the $&@&$%#* is Brandon I had to scroll back up to see that ELLIS in fact is also Brandon.

Good article and important article about corruption. The change to surname probably would not have annoyed as much had I not been completely immersed in the story and agitated about the lack of integrity of ISP.

Re: “Dry Creek, Dry Purse

["They disagreed with us and they beat us up pretty bad, and quite frankly, I don't see where I'm going to support spending county taxpayer dollars on an organization that doesn't support the county," said Commissioner Jim Tibbs during a June 19 budget hearing.]
What he meant to say was that he was angry and lashed out at whomever he could to try to influence and silence the voice that made him feel small.
From adaswcd.org: "Conservation districts were organized nationwide as part of the soil conservation movement of the 1930s and 40s in response to the Dust Bowl ecological disaster. We are one of fifty conservation districts in Idaho tasked with leading efforts to conserve, sustain, and enhance Idahos private and state lands." Visit their site and see for yourself all the things they do to "SUPPORT THE COUNTY", contrary to Tibbs' little opinion. I'd put them up against his own accomplishments any day.

Re: “Dry Creek, Dry Purse

Not only are the commissioners short-sighted, but they have demonstrated yet again, that they're petty, little, sensitive tyrants who will threaten the employer of any person who dares speak out against their oh-so-wise judgments. This is not the first time they've pulled a stunt like this, and it doesn't surprise me at all, given how weak-minded and ego-sensitive they have proven to be. Face it, they're not always right. Their decision was contentious. Many disagreed with it. They could have chosen otherwise, but... as always, sided with big development instead of conservation. Is it any surprise to anyone? So what if Tibbs got his little feelings hurt. Get over it. You made your decision. Live with it. Don't be so petty as to threaten funding to a county conservation district. They do more to actually support "the county" than this group of nitwits called commissioners does... unless you're a real estate developer.

Re: “F-35s in Boise? 'We Don't Know What We Don't Know'

This is typical of the ignorance and complacency of Boise. Never mind the people or quality of life. Create a hazard in the air and an ugly carbon footprint so some defense contractor can get corporate welfare.

Boise loves pollution. They shut down streets at every opportunity so we have to drive out of our way, stop and idle, polluting the air and wasting gas so the lastest crowd of walkers, joggers, bikers, or whatever can monopolize downtown.

Rip up the foothills and build McMansions everywhere, but make sure traffic is snarled so pollution (always bad in Boise) is even worse. Make sure we waste gas sitting there, engines running, in the heat.. road rage results... it is ugly.

Boise does not care.

Boise City's motto must be, If you get there on time, it's not our fault.

What a smug, unresponsive bunch they are, hiding behind their affluent, smug friends.

Ada County Commissioners remain short-sighted. I am an Ada county taxpayer, and am happy to have my tax dollars support the Ada SWCD.

Re: “Snowpocalypse to Floodpocalypse

We'll see what happens this coming winter as there will be an above average carry over in the lakes into next spring. Another wet winter and we'll be right back into another crisis. It will take a major flood to get the govt to pay for another dam, so until that happens it will be too much or too little water in the lakes.

Re: “F-35s in Boise? 'We Don't Know What We Don't Know'

Oh poor poor little Mayor's office having a more difficult time than expected blowing smoke up or asses.

Bieter only cares about the handful of people giving him and his friends money. It is that small group of businessman which has gotten between the city and the citizen. Term limits prevent this kind of entrenchment. Look carefully and see the small group and their wives in key posts in and near government. They even did a newspaper article about this gang of thieves and their vision for Boise

Why do you liberal idiots keep electing his team? Clearly there is corruption. Clearly there is disrespect for the ordinary person living in Boise and the burbs. This F-35 thing is leaving huge openings for better people to seek office. Lets hope and pray.

Re: “For Rent: Boise's Historic-Low Vacancy Rate Triggers a Flood of New Apartments

Not all are searching to rent...much less in apartment like environments. I am single...lots of singles out there dreaming of purchasing a house. Yes, a house. I couldn't find an affordable small....er house, in Boise....My heart is and will remain in Boise. However, my still, much too large, yet affordable new too me home, is not in Boise. PLEASE, deciders, stop forgetting that all of your citizens, are not the family types. Stop building HUGE houses that nobody spends much time in. What's really the point in that? Homes in Boise are mostly a place to eat, sleep, bathe, then work and play....your Veteran, who beat homelessness, and purchased a home....Crystal Dunkin

Re: “F-35s in Boise? 'We Don't Know What We Don't Know'

Many F-35 opponents like myself have attended years of F-35 hearing conducted by proponents , the majority of us are strong supporters of our military.
We became skeptical o F-35 levels because until 2016 F-35 proponents repeatedly denied that they knew how loud this aircraft is while consistently assuring us that these aircraft would be good neighbors.

Some of us have spent several years within our local & state governments as citizen activists trying to reform Idaho's unconstitutional Forced Annexation law, current law confiscates voting & property rights of County property owners.
During these years we learned much about the lobbyist cartel that has selected & elected our state & local officials & wag their tails.

The same lobby cartel is promoting the F-35s, they stand to make many millions off of the homes, schools & businesses that will be condemned by EPA noise standards & rebuilt else where. The economic & health impact damages will be signifficant & be carried by taxpayers.
We have gathered the legal standing data needed to hold individual F-35 financially accountable once neighborhood associations are united.

Re: “F-35s in Boise? 'We Don't Know What We Don't Know'

http://aviationweek.com/defense/f-35-f-16-… reports that Dutch residents report the F-35s are only slightly louder than the F-16s they will replace but lower frequency and thus less annoying than the F-16's high pitch whine. Also see http://www.defense-aerospace.com/articles-…
