  • Gossipy Monday

We've got Novak's 20-20 hindsight ("They knew all along"), James Bond's closet-peering infra-red eyeballs ("Craig ain't the only one"), and Lt. Gov. Jim Risch's impending announcement (we'll let you guess, just guess) to chew on today.

For all this juicy fodder you have Idaho's dominant political party to thank.

  • For ID Senate: Risch and LaRocco

And they're off, and boy do we feel overwhelmed by deja vu around here.

With Lt. Gov. Jim Risch's announcement today that he's entering the race to replace U.S. Sen. Larry Craig, Idaho gets a rematch.

Once again we have Risch the Republican running against Larry LaRocco, the Democrat. Risch trounced LaRocco in the 2006 race for lieutenant governor.

In a downtown announcement, surrounded by a herd of fellow Republicans (except for Idaho Attorney General Lawrence Wasden, hmmm) Risch made it plain: he's in.

  • Craig's Reaction: I'm Innocent, And I'm Staying

Sen. Craig said today in reaction to the Minnesota court ruling that he's disappointed, but that he's innocent.

Oh, and he's not going anywhere. Craig said he'll remain in the Senate until his term expires.

"it is possible for me to work here effectively," he said.

    Full statement after the jump.

  • Risch is Ready

Did we ever mention that Governor Lt. Governor Jim Risch is ready to announce his plans about Craig's Senate seat?

The ever-ready Risch, who has consistently said he is considering Craig's seat "ifandonlyif" Craig resigns, said he'll talk on Tuesday.

Hold onto your hats people. Full Risch statement after the jump.
