I have been to this restaurant a few times now and I am not surprised that they are full almost every night. I have been to over 40 countries and worked in a few restaurants in London and the Med' and to get this kind of quality in Europe would cost triple what they charge in Boise.
I also understand that no place anywhere pleases everybody and yes it is not like any American place I have been to and if you want that experience then don't go :)
As long as 99% of the people like it then that's a pretty good ratio.
Did you know that the owner Franck has cooked for Royalty, Heads of state, famous European celeb's, rock stars!! You don't get to do that if you are average or even good, you must be HIGHLY sort after. Now as I said you cannot please everyone but his resume and attention to detail is as good as anyone in America. Its like you are going to eat at their home and they treat you like family (good family :)
I recently ate at Gordan Ramsey's in London's west end and it was very average, do you think he really gives a damn about some guy from Boise telling him what I think? Now if a lot of people thought the same then he would close, just like Le Coq Rouge, but the lines to get in are getting longer and longer, so whose right?
Oh yes and by the way I know for a fact that many of the top chefs in Boise have eaten there and THEY say its the best food in town. Are they idiots, am I, are the lines of people that come back stupid too. The "Today Show" producers want to fly the owners to cook on the show, it will happen in 2010...shall I continue?
I know the French can be a little different, so if you have a problem then please don't go, let new people have a chance to try something new.
Sorry my English is not the best as I am from Holland and English is my third language :)

Re: “

Nothing in Boise or indeed Idaho comes close to Le Coq Rouge! Real country French cuisine and an atmosphere right out of the French countryside in BOISE! Authentic staff, great food from a world class chef and music from the best entertainer in the area (on Saturday's). The number posted is old and is now 376-WINE. If you want a great night out then this is the place! This is what Europe is like, for real!
