Re: “Built to Spill Announces Local Shows, Angers Some Locals

Jrdn: I did write that your handle was not your real name, and that Darian was a local singer and booker, but both were taken out by an editor.

Spacebar just posted the list of games it will have to its Facebook.

Re: “You'll Remember Trans Atlantic Crush

Regarding the errors in this article, BW put in a call in to Trans Atlantic Crush’s manager, Noel Gill.

“I think that there is really only one error there, with regards to the singer there. Everything else was pretty consistent,” said Gill. “The band did play, though not as they are.”

Gill said that in 1994 and 1995, Trans Atlantic Crush went on a mini-tour with ’90s R&B group, 4 P.M., which included a show in Boise at the Taco Bell Arena. Gill says they also played gigs like The Big Damn Party and at Bogies.

“And at that time, it was different band than it was now,” said Gill. “The only remaining member is Jim.”

This is where the confusion starts. The current band, featuring Jim Cochell playing with Karlin Nichols, Hawk Dobbins and Troy Shreve, has not ever played live. Something that was expressed to BW in several emails and phone calls with the band before this article was written.

Multiple emails and phone calls with the band all indicate that the band had not yet played, something they themselves acknowledge is somewhat accurate since it is a different band, though it carries the same name.

Both Cochell and Gill have said that they are talking with Live Nation about potential dates, and that is the primary reason the band has yet to book any local gigs.

All that said: the error listing backup vocalist Jim Cochell instead of Karlin Nichols as the primary singer stands. Boise Weekly regrets the error.
