Re: “Time: Employers Refusing to Interview Unemployed

This shows that there's a contempt against the poor arising; I have also noticed in many articles written by businessmen and financiers, broad somewhat angry statements that the economic problems are all created by "lazy American (or British) workers" forcing the poor, desperate businessmen to leave for China. Having been brought up in a class ridden society (called the UK) I'm already able to recognise what has been struggled against in the old world, it's called class warfare, and it begins with sweeping gestures of disgust against the poor in an attempt by the wealthy to write off their curses onto the weak. It's also just pompous snobbery. The astonishing reality is that the US, with wealth polarisation, is host to its own untitled aristocracy. The war of independence threw off the yoke of the Imperial overlord but it didn't throw off the yoke of the local overlord. And it's these people, strangely hiding under misnomers, (what on earth have Republicans these days got to do with republic? Tea Party with the Tea party or the Right to Work laws to do with protecting the people??!!!) The strangest of all twists came when someone called me a "commie traitor" because I agree with socialised healthcare, equality, liberty and freedom, you know, those disgusting liberal ideas that turn people into devil worshipers and swingers. I pointed out that it was the rich capitalist class who were fraternising with the Chinese communists, and raising them to compete with their own relatives and countrymen. People their own fathers sent into wars to die fighting communism. I can't believe that proud Americans would do such a thing. But worse than all this is this treacherous insult to people struggling to survive in a land dripping with wealth. Yours sincerely, astonished and horrified, Glock.

Re: “Mass Murder, Inc.

Looks like the right wing here in the US is sooooo right wing that they think the right wing extremist movement called Nazi is left wing. One of the major missions of Hitler was to destroy communism. LOL. This is what happens if people isolate themselves from greater world knowledge I think. Socialism developed out of resistance to the evils of capitalism, if capitalism had not been so vicious, socialism would not have been born.

Re: “Cagle Columnist Slams Idaho

I tracked down Dupuy's site and blog, I've got to say, she's the only writer I've read not slavishly following partisan themes. From an external (non US) viewpoint, she seems immune to the party euphoria that saturates the whole electorate. I'm a fan!

Re: “Obama a P***k? Man, Shut Yo' Mouth

I think the lesson will prove good for the kid, that he will show more respect in the future. Freedom of speech (whilst not really existing in the UK like here, at least on a rights level) isn't always constructive. Call me something nasty, I'll simply exclude ya. That's everyone's right.

Re: “A Tough Week for Boise Cyclists ... and It's Wednesday

From the stats, Idaho drivers are the worst in the US. I am so ashamed. :-(

Re: “Congress Says No to Unemployed

Coming from the UK I am amazed to see the same aristocratic thought patterns at large amidst what I see as a nation that was set up to rid themselves of the inhumanity and patriarchal controlling forces of fascism and feudalism. In the UK, it's feasible to control people and beat them to the dirt because they have no right to bear arms. Even walking with a walking stick will get someone into trouble there, defending oneself against muggers with an umbrella, or defending one's own home from violent criminals will see the defender in deep trouble and the attacker get off with no punishment...here, in the land 'of the free', politicians should not poke the public like this as America's unemployed have weapons and guns and the spirit of survival. Dumping the unfortunate peasant to starve is okay in feudal old England. I'd expect the US citizen to be a much more dangerous adversary in any attempt at what is, technically, I see as an emerging class war, albeit veiled by technical, on paper, equalities. I wouldn't mess with an American or his rights, I'm amazed that Americans will mess with each other like this. Blessings to all.
